An American living abroad in EU. Mid 30's woman. Weight has been a struggle unless I keep a VERY consistent fitness AND diet regime running, and that goes back to our first child 16years ago. Our second and last pregnancy only added 20lbs, which bumped me to 202lbs. Shedding it has been beyond me ever since. It's migrated, to my calves, my arms, my hips, yet 202lbs is where I still sit 3 years later. These days my work life, is a lot less active than it was before we moved-as my career has shifted, which has also made committing to a fitness routine harder, AND, unhealthy foods are that much easier to reach. Back in my previous career field, eating meant-I had to pack my lunch. What I face now is far too many tempting options, which is extremely ironic given that the unhealthy habits had matured in EU rather than during my US years, the era of gym after work, healthy packed lunches, and not "looking" my weight. You always hear how much healthier things in EU are and how much weight folks will lose living here--the opposite has been true for me. But, my body likes to do that to me, goes against the grain. Deception is another trick of mine: looking in the mirror, the 160lb me is still what I see, but photos show a much larger version of myself-and the embarrassment is real. Which is what led me to this site, lurking, and finally creating an account. Waiting on my order now, and hoping to be a motivational story for someone else. Dulling some food noise is the hope, to help switch back to healthier eatting habbits, actually stop at the gym on my way home again-my job location changed very recently, so the gym is now on my route home, during their open hours, after 2 years of inconsistent hours that ranged from 4am to 1am... so much has shifted and sidelined my physical and mental health and motivation, and my real hope is to grow (well, shrink) toward the better me, hit some goals, and trim the extra risks that riding around as a 5'2 blob brings. Healthier is what I want, for myself, my husband, and our kids. 🩶 So thank you-to everyone who make places like this exist, to help the average person. Having this much to type/say wasn't something I expected.
