Hello friends! I'm excited to be here, and to be taking control of my health. Finding sovereignty in my body.
Food noise has been with me my whole life. It's loud, and it pulls my attention and energy away from living my mission on this planet, which is to help people.
My purpose demands full concentration, sustained energy and focus. Once food and weight stop occupying my mind, a great deal of mental energy will be released for other things.
During my last launch, while I was pushing hard to get my work out into the world, I was overeating at nearly every meal, and I've reached a point where I see that my food cravings are simply stronger than most people's. That isn't a sign that I lack discipline. It means my body has particular ways of trying to protect itself.
What I'm moving toward is feeling lithe and light in my skin, with movement that feels easy. This isn't about what others think of me, though that is a nice perk. I know what feels best in my body, and I am claiming that.
Two old stories exist about women and their bodies. The older thinking holds that a woman is only acceptable if she's thin. But a newer type of thinking says a woman is only acceptable if she doesn't care about her weight at all. "Body positivity." It's a move in the right direction, because we can only change what we first accept. But there is a desire for change, and that's okay. I want to break through as a new type of spiritual warrior where I am allowed to claim that I want to be thin from a place of sovereignty. I know what feels best in my body. No ideology gets to tell me that wanting to feel my best is internalized oppression. I am a sovereign woman, a leader, and that means I get to decide from a place of full power and authority what I want my body to look like.
I'm also sick of consuming more than my body needs, and I mean that on every level. Overeating is not a sustainable practice. It's both hard on my body and also hard on the planet Earth, and the resources that went into growing and transporting and preparing food that my body didn't actually require. I want to be someone who makes a light footprint on this Earth, and who shows up as a leader of what is possible when we treat our bodies and the planet with care.
And I'm tired of using emotional eating as a crutch. When the food noise quiets and that old coping mechanism isn't available the same way, something real is going to surface, and I'm actually looking forward to it. When I can't overeat in order to comfort and numb difficult emotions, I'm going to be called to actually use my emotional processing tools like journaling. The difficulty that comes up will be pointing at what still needs tending. I want to meet myself with so much love and care in those hard places, instead of ignoring it with food.
So happy to be here! Thanks for making this space.
