Hi Everyone!

Glad to have joined, and eager to soak things up.

43M. Gilbert, Arizona, USA is my home town, but nearly every major city on both the east and west coasts has been home at some stage, and these last 3+ years Boise, Idaho has been where I'm based. The US Army's special operation units took up 8 years of my life (2001-2009). Healing from polytraumas swallowed 3 more years, after which came a spiritual stretch: 5 years of hanging around monasteries. School followed again — a bachelor of science in sustainability (ecology) plus an MBA — and from there I moved into global management consulting, serving Fortune 500s, Venture Capital firms and startups.

Plants and nature captured me during the monastery years and leaving was never on the cards. Yet having healed across most layers, levels and dimensions, it became obvious that more monks were needed outside a monastery than inside one — so into the corporate world I went, to plant seeds of regeneration 😅.

Endurance sport has been a constant for most of my life. Outside of meditating, gardening, making unique waters and designing biofertilizers, my week is cycling/mountain biking, snowboarding, strength training, yoga, or time with my wife. Military injuries never stopped me being active; what did was a moderate Covid-19 case back in November 2021.

A professional burnout landed six months after contracting Covid-19, and leaving the house for 2 months was close to impossible. Taking a few weeks off from clients seemed like the obvious fix, yet I felt like the walking wounded: Post Exertional Malaise (PEM) hit me with everything I did, and 3-5 days of total exhaustion would follow before the whole crash cycle started over. Influenza A arrived in February of 2024 and felt simliar to my Covid-19 bout, milder this time, except that from then on flu-like symptoms never let up. A second professional burnout came six months later; my energy never recovered that time and I could no longer work. Severe cognitive issues, and no energy whatsoever for the most basic acitivities of daily living.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) plus Long-Covid is what I've been carrying since. Meditation and energy healing practices were no help at all; my life simply started fading — day by to day, month by month — while the weight grew. Crash cycles dominated everything, and what used to launch my morning (meditation, workout, morning routine) became the day's own target. A win was any morning I wasn't pinned to the bed by incapacitating brain fog, pain, and the never-ending cycles of flu.

Neuroscientists, nutritionists, occupational therapists, psychotherapy — every protocol was tried, and on paper all the blood work came back normal; sleep apnea wasn't even a factor. Fragmented sleep was the answer: my brain woke spontaneously 28x/hour, and no doctor could explain it, guessing at decades of PTSD plus a now fully manifested chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and long-covid.

I'm an optimistic sort by nature and I've carried 100% faith that answers would surface eventually. Enduring patience through so many months (years, now) is something I'd never had to do before, though, and it has been the toughest stretch.. . watching life go past and feeling like a diminished version of the man I used to be.

So the research phase began, and with it an unconventional attaempt at my body's mitochondria issues, this time through peptides.

6 days on reta now, and minutes after that first dose (0.5mg) I felt better straight away — the best week of energy since catching covid. Literally feels like a miracle and I can't stop smiling!

For the last few years, a workout 1-2x/week (minimally) counted as a lucky week. This week: road cycled 2x, strength trained 2x, and both lawns mowed. Literally feels like a miracle!

A long intro, I know, but what I'm after is hearing about other people's journey with GLP1s, how other peptides have treated them, and the positive/negative effects across all areas of their life. Where my own journey heads next I can't say, but since catching covid-19 this is the first moment it feels like there's a real chance to heal enough to be socially and professionally active again.

Tentatively the plan is an 8 week cycle of reta; SS-31 joins on week 5, and Mots-C gets considered on week 9 if my body feels healed enough. Sensitivity is high in my case, so the low and slow philosophy applies with peptides.

Thanks for sticking with me — I'm keen to get involved with the community here!

Gratefully,

Jacob
