I know it’s not generally accepted but I weigh myself everyday

Once a week just doesn’t work for me — the day-to-day swings are too big, like up 2, down 3, etc. There’s no way my weight is actually changing that fast.
The amusing measurements start right when I get out of bed, then I step on again after passing water. Finally, after emptying everything out completely, I weigh one more time. It turns out we flush away more weight than I ever would have guessed.

Now it makes sense why the advice is to wake up, use the bathroom, and then step on the scale. Those morning readings really do shift.

My suggestion would be that everyone weigh themselves each morning even if they don't check the number, apart from one time per week. If you prefer, stick a note over the screen. Then you can simply go through the data in the app once a week.

What you're actually looking at is water numbers. Have a salty meal and water goes up for 1-2 days. Take a large dose of creatine and water weight rises for a day or two. Being too dehydrated at weigh-in makes the number artificially low.

Per Google: Water weight can typically vary by 1 to 5 pounds (and sometimes up to 7 to 8 pounds) per day in healthy adults.

And women have a week of scale fluctuations to contend with.

Having written all that, I understand why some people steer clear of the scale. /lol

I prefer to step on the scale each day so I can see which direction I'm trending. Yes, the number fluctuates, but this approach works better for me — with only one weekly check, I could have missed a low day, ha ha

Every morning I step on the scale — unless I'm backed up and haven't had a bowel movement yet, which honestly happens more often than I'd care to admit.

I step on the scale every day too. At this point it's simply part of my morning routine.

One reason is hot yoga: sweating that much makes me drop a lot of water weight. Yesterday morning I was 140lbs, then I did a 90 minute class, and by this morning I was down to 135lbs. I know I need to get on the hydration train, and weighing daily helps me tell whether I've rehydrated.

I'm with the others who've said that more data is better, as long as the small fluctuations don't mess with your head.

Whatever approach you choose, consistency is key.

Every morning I step on the scale, though I log it in an app called Libra, which builds a trend line from the trailing 7 days and also estimates my current calorie deficit. Since I'm now within ten pounds of my goal weight, my estimated body fat % gets far more of my attention than the actual number on the scale. By that measure, I've still got about 6% to go.

During my research phase toward goal, my routine was a weekly weigh-in. Now that I’m in maintenance, I’ve moved to weighing on the 1st of each month. I logged my weight this morning.

I step on the scale 1-2 times each day. The first weigh-in happens right after I get up and use the bathroom, with no clothes on. The second one takes place at the gym. That gym reading always comes in 4-6lb higher, thanks to gym clothes, sneakers, my cell phone, and so on, and I log the gym number in shotsy.

I used to be firmly in the camp of stepping on the scale every day. Then I decided to put my faith in the medication, and since then I've simply been getting on with life — eating whatever I fancied and appreciating how much quieter the food noise has become. At 4mg I'm fortunate to get a strong effect with no side effects, so right now I have no reason to change my dose.

Over three months I dropped 15kg/33lbs, and after that I've been sitting a little above my maintenance weight. Eventually I'd like to lose another couple kg, though there's no rush — I'd rather use the winter months to add some muscle mass, so I'm set to lose the remainder in late spring!

Back when I was younger, during any stretch when I was trying to lose weight, I stepped on the scale daily. Now, more than a decade later, I do it once a week — I just don’t have that drive to keep checking all the time anymore.

Yes, I step on the scale every day. The chart I keep also plots a 7-day running average alongside it, and that average is the line I actually pay attention to. It does a good job of smoothing out the day-to-day fluctuations.

I step on the scale every day as well. For tracking my weight loss, though, I only log it once a week.

Honestly, I'm not sure why I do it daily — I don't really feel like it makes much of a difference. I'm just so afraid of things being too good to be true.

I step on the scale every day as well, and I genuinely believe it strongly shapes both what and how much I eat each day. Using my weight as a guide for my daily eating habits and routine has been very helpful to me. It has worked for me and my whole family over the past 2 years.

For me, stepping on the scale happens about twice a week — Tuesdays and Fridays. Weekend weigh-ins don't tell me much, since my eating tends to slip then, or I'll have a glass or two of alcohol, which I believe leaves me a bit bloated.

I hop on the scale roughly every 2-3 weeks. My real gauge is a pair of 30 inch jeans and how they feel straight from the dryer. That's a long way from the 62 inch jeans and 7X shirt I used to wear.
