Who claims new tricks are off-limits for old dogs? Once I stopped lurking and panicking over crypto, I went ahead and completed the first two steps. A Coinbase account is now up and running, the balance got auto-converted into USDC, and then I opened a Kraken wallet so the funds could land there following the required waiting period. Whew! It feels like a decent chunk of the tough part is behind me.

SO...what should a newbie who's also an old person do next? Go easy on me, you know how us Geezers operate. 😂 What I need right now: could somebody break down "gas money" more clearly, plus how and when I'd turn part of that USDC into it, and what for? Thanks!
 
nice work getting there! Mine finally clicked about 2 weeks back and the whole learning curve made me feel old and dumb, though really satisfying once it lands!

Have you gone through with an actual purchase at this point? I'm going to require some liquor before I can bring myself to do that, lol
 
Oh, one more thing for anyone else on this path: my first attempt was opening a Kraken account through the Kraken app (which is different from the Kraken wallet app). My ID just would not go through — I must have taken 10 photos of it, tried DL and Passport both, no luck. Fed up, I deleted that and switched to Coinbase instead — that was absolutely seamless. Simple.

A purchase has been completed by me! Delivery is still pending, though I'm fairly sure it'll come through. Up until now, my go-to methods were paypal and telegram wallet, and getting into crypto has significantly widened the pool of vendors available to me. I put up a fight against it, but I'm happy that I now (sort of) possess crypto abilities. Coinbase and exodus were the tools I went with.
 
congrats!! glad you're here brother! I'm in the same boat as you — really wary of crypto, but I wanted to be able to reach every vendor out there. it took me a few tries and plenty of reading, but 2 weeks in I pulled off my first crypto purchase. AI was a big help too 🙂 isn't there a saying? necessity is the mother of invention?
