Here’s a summary of my situation. I’ve been on Reta for eight months, and about two months ago, I reached my maximum dose: 4 mg, split into two weekly injections. I tried jumping straight to 3 mg per injection, but I experienced heartburn—it felt like gastritis. I tried 2.5 mg, and even at 2 mg, I still notice it sometimes.

A couple of weeks ago, I dropped to 1.5 mg per injection (3 mg weekly), and things were much better. As soon as I went up to 2 mg (4 mg weekly), the heartburn returned slightly.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? I can't increase the dose any further, so I’m barely noticing any effects now; the scale has even crept up a bit since I don't have as much appetite suppression.

Pick up a PPI like omeprazole and call it good. I had a similar problem (unrelated to Reta) and it works perfectly!

Yes, I am in the same boat where the skin sensitivity side effect starts to kill me at 4mg twice a week. You could consider staying at the dose that you find most tolerable and making up for what you're missing by adding some tirz.

I'm about to begin a KPV experiment, in my reading about it there were several mentions of it knocking out reta-related heartburn and reflux. Just a thought, pretty cheap and might be worth a shot

If you want appetite suppression, you are on the wrong med, transition over to Tirzepatide. Reta is known for often needing higher doses for appetite supression. The larger focus should probably be on eating more low calorie dense foods and tracking your intake.

I had heart burn for a while back at 4mg, but only at night. Tums fixed that. It only lasts a while and goes away, trust me. I was at 10mg, and zero side effects.

I agree I did a 14 day run of Prilosec, and haven't had a problem yet.

Exactly the same when I started Tirz…I started a split dose of Reta 3 weeks ago and am going to start titrating up the next dose or so and will keep the tums handy for that…

…and as was mentioned, I use KPV and I think that helps a lot as well…

What dose are you at now? I am fixing to go to 6 mg. Lost 38 lbs so far. I have people Tell me at 6 mg it's like a switch turned on. The glucagon effects kick in. I have 20 more lbs to go.

Experienced extreme heartburn on Tirzepatide. The kind that wakes you up at night with acid in your mouth (reflux). I started taking daily Omeprazole and it went away completely (takes a day or two to kick in). After a few weeks I reduced my Omeprazole then eventually cut it out completely. The heartburn has never returned, probably because of the change in eating habits that GLP-1s produce.

One of the things I had to learn with Tirz is to not eat anything at least 4 hours before bed. If I eat in that pre-bed window I get reflux as certain as clockwork. Honor the window and I never have a problem.

I was on 10mg, so was my wife. I'm now bouncing back and forth between 6 and 8mg for 4 weeks depending on the scale on Friday morning at 5AM. Maintenance mode. I lost 60lbs in 30 weeks. 4-6 and 8mg really worked on me, and I stayed on those like 6 weeks each. My wife is still on 10 and will likely move to 12mg next Friday which is doses day.

Yup. I do experience a slight touch of heartburn in bed, heartburn not even worthy of an antacid, and it's always after i foolishly ate a small bowl of cereal at 10PM.

Prueba con un IBP como el omeprazol y listo. Yo tuve un problema similar (sin relación con Reta) ¡y me funcionó de maravilla!

Thanks a million for all the advice. I'll start with omeprazole.

If omeprazole doesn't work completely, the newest medication for heartburn is Voquezna, available as a generic from India. It was nothing short of a miracle for me, after trying all the other PPIs.

For minor heartburn, my go-to is just Alka-Seltzer.

In theory, BPC could also help, in addition to KPV.

L. Acidophilus probiotic seemed to help me. I I used to get heartburn at lower doses but I still titrated up every 4 weeks and it eventually went away.

I second the acidophilus. It completely cured my sulfur burps.
