I work with a guy who has been on trizeptite for 6 weeks, perscribed threw his dr., he has lost some wieght, not a lot. I don't know him very well, I'm surprised he felt comfortable telling me he was on it. So I told him I was on reta. I tried continuing the conversation farther, but he got side tracked.

A few day later, there were donuts in the break room. I overheard him say to someone "I can still eat 3 donuts, I just have to spread the out over 5 or 6 hours". I thought he was joking, then he grabbed 3 donuts and walked away.

I'm not posting this to make fun of anyone, or to judge. But I'm wonder how many people have this kind of mindset with glp1's? I dont think i could eat 1 donut any more. If I did. I bet would throw up. Or shit my pants.

What are Dr's telling patients? Are they told to use it as a tool to eat healthy and exercise? Or are they being told "take the shot, change nothing and lose wieght"?

I wonder how many of the side affects are from people who are ligitmantly trying, and how many are from complete lack of Changing there diet?

I'm just perplexed.

I eat very healthy. And I have for decades. And I still have a piece of pizza, or a burger, or gasp! A donut here or there

I had a Argentine ex-cavalry officer horse trainer who gave very good life advice. Really, just the once, but it always bears repeating

"Ride your horse-"

(You can insert eat healthy food here for the purposes of this conversation)

"Ride your horse. That will make you happy. Then you won't have time to worry about what other people are doing."

My desire to eat such unhealthy food is mostly gone on Reta. I just wouldn't want the donuts, even though I am pretty confident I could eat them (well 1 at least) I really don't want to it doesn't appeal. I never get really hungry anymore I can go long stretches without eating if I want to and the meal planning takes over.

I still eat what I want, mostly when I want, but decidedly less of it.

This was my dinner Sunday, didn't finish it, but got in the truck and drove another 3 hours with no issue... which wasn't surprising. I don't feel the need to be a puritan "eating clean" when I see very little to no downsides anywhere in my journey. Can't eat cake every meal, I still need protein, but I can certainly enjoy life and feel no guilt doing so.

In the thru hiking (long distance hiking) world, one of the most often repeated words of advice is, "hike your own hike"...You will always run into people that tell you you aren't doing it right, or your gear is wrong, or you 'have to' whatever....The phrase gives comfort that YOU are the one doing the hike...hike your own hike....

At 6mg of reta, I don't think there is anything I can't eat. No nausea, no squirts. But I have a lot less desire to eat it, and I try to make healthy choices since, after all, this is supposed to be about being healthy for me.

I know my first month on tirz was a bit of a mind f*ck. For so long, I'd eaten not just out of hunger but to fill an emotional void. I would eat until I was sick just to numb out. Maybe @Shittersfull 's co-worker in still in that space, where you're like "Donuts have equalled happiness for 30-40 years. It's engraved in my mind."

I made a few errors that month, trying to eat the crap foods I loved, or just so-so tasting crap food in the quantities that used to bring me joy or numb pain, but just couldn't, and thank god for that! I will still eat a candy bar every now and then, but usually need to stop 3/4 way through because all the sugar makes me queasy.

Also, ever since I worked at Dunkin' as a teen, donuts have been one of my binge foods. Until this thread--just now!-- I hadn't thought about donuts since February!!! Now that's a mind f*ck! 😀

I feel like if you're going to the effort of being on a glp-1 you should try at least a little bit. Just because you CAN eat 3 donuts.. maybe don't. People are weird.

Now that I am at 6mg I still lose weight no matter what or how much I eat, but I just don't want to most of the time. Maybe that guy will get to a point where he will be the same way.

Many folks haven’t a clue and either aren’t given one or more likely it doesn’t register. Look at all of the responses here for example. Not a single one appears to actually address the issue you questioned. Yes many of the side effects blamed on the medicine are side effects of being ignorant. The post wasn’t judging anyone for having the occasional treat. It was commenting on the lack of awareness in the wild. And here too honestly. Someone the other day posted “well I think people realize…” no, no they don’t realize, many of them. When you ride the horse one hopes you’ve paid some mind to basic horsemanship, when you hike a trail one hopes you’ve seen a map and brought some water. If you haven’t then I and any thinking person is gonna judge you as a dummy.

I’m on Reta and I can eat 3 Boston creams in a row on Sunday. I feel like crap after and I know I’m not doing myself any good.

I'm sorry, I was being too oblique

Relating the story of his colleague to internet strangers is not done with the intention of helping his colleague.

I won't speak to the intention, but it doesn't help his colleague. It does not educate his colleague.

There’s comparatively no effort involved with being on peptides for the majority of the users.

Radical life changes are less interesting to me than sustainable modicums of shifts. Radical changes are better used for specific short term goals since they require concerted effort and discipline to maintain. This is evident in my life how through diet and exercise I unsustainably lost 80lb 8 years ago, followed by gaining 60lb back. Now I’m 15lb lighter, doing nothing I can’t keep doing “forever” and all of metrics that don’t show improvement are essentially the same.

Instead of focusing on “earning” or justifying weight loss/decomposition success through effort, I’ve focused on learning how to optimize the outcome for myself… a chunk of that is not beating myself up for living life. Another chunk of that is finding some balance between hedonism and responsibility, which I think is the gist of this thread. Fortunately hedonistic eating is much less interesting than before, but I still don’t eat salads😂. I do supplement things, which I’d never done before.

After I get to my target, I may take up an interest in resistance training, but I know with reasonable certainty I’m not going to become a sustained gym rat. Shorter term high intensity efforts to achieve shorter term goals is more satisfying than hitting the gym every day for whatever period of time before “falling off the wagon”.

Ai comparing data from now vs my previous time losing significant weight:

2018 vs. Recent Lows (May–June 2026)

• Weight: 226 lb → ~211 lb (-15 lb)

• Blood Pressure: 111/74–76 → ~107/72

• Fasting Glucose: 76 → 71 mg/dL

• HbA1c: 5.1% → 5.0–5.2%

• Total Cholesterol: 154 → ~150–155 mg/dl

• LDL-C: 90 → ~78 mg/dL (↓ ~13%)

• HDL-C: 40 → 38–39 mg/dL (slightly lower during active weight loss)

• Triglycerides: 120 → 76 mg/dL (↓ 37%)

• TG/HDL Ratio: 3.0 → ~2.0 (↓ ~33%)

• ApoB: Not measured → 79 mg/dL (optimal)

• Insulin Sensitivity: Not measured → HOMA-IR ~0.79 (excellent)

• Inflammation (hs-CRP): Not measured → 1.51mg/L, down substantially from earlier 2026 highs

• Kidney Function:

Creatinine: 0.94 mg/dl

eGFR: 105 mL/min/1.73m²

Cystatin C eGFR: 116 mL/min/1.73m²

Summary: Compared with 2018, you are approximately 15 pounds lighter with lower blood pressure, lower fasting glucose, markedly lower triglycerides, lower LDL cholesterol, an optimal ApoB, excellent measured insulin sensitivity, preserved kidney function, and substantially lower systemic inflammation. Glycemic control has remained excellent throughout. Aside from HDL—which commonly lags during active weight loss—virtually every measurable cardiometabolic marker is equal to or improved over your 2018 baseline.

I was into weights and running as a teen and through my college years. I Gaines a bunch of weight my senior year because I was always in the library studying.

Afterwards, I stumbled upon indoor climbing and didn't go back to the weight stack for quite a while.

This is a roundabout way of suggesting that there are many fun ways to get resistance training that aren't weights. Maybe you'll find something.

I am lifting again as injury prevention because climbing is hard on the elbows and shoulders.

I do not have any foods I consider off limits, BUT I know what foods make me feel my best, I try and stick with those. I had a terrible ED from years and years of restriction, I wont do that to myself again.

BUTTTTTT I'd MUCH rather have a rib eye over a donut any day....
