How long do reconstituted peptides and bac water stay good?

Hey everyone! I'm 3 weeks into reta, and I'm wondering: after mixing, how many weeks can a vial sit in the fridge? I keep hearing 4-6 weeks from some people. Others tell me to just finish it. That leaves me pretty confused. My approach is to keep using the vial until it's empty, unless I see cloudiness or something odd. I've also come across claims that potency declines past the 28 day point. For my 1st month I picked up a 10mg vial, which I now see was way too much; a 5mg would've likely been the better call for month 1, but you live and you learn.

As for the bac water, I've seen similar guidance that it's only good for 28 days and should then be discarded. I've also noticed many people saying they store it in the fridge, while others leave it at room temp. Mine has been in the fridge since I got it, and I was figuring I'd just use it until it's gone; I have 9ml left, and at my current pace that'll probably stretch over a few months.

(I already know how to reconstitute, how to dose, and all of that. My real worry is storage, since I keep running into conflicting answers everywhere and I trust the folks here more. I just want to get this right.)

A clear-cut, absolute response isn't something you'll receive. What you'll receive instead is a mix of personal takes and stories, supported to varying degrees by facts. Evidence and research simply don't exist in sufficient quantity to settle it one way or the other. I realize this might come across as unhelpful, or not the response you were hoping for, but that's the reality.

Hey yall! So I’m on week 3 on reta and my question is how long does a vial last once reconstituted in the fridge? I keep seeing people say 4-6 weeks. Others say until it’s done. I’m just confused and kinda want a straightforward answer. I’ve also read that efficacy drops after the 28 day mark. I bought a 10mg vial for my first month, which I now realize was def too much and should’ve prob stuck with a 5mg for the first month but you live and you learn.

Also, for the bac water, same thing, how long does it last for and should it be refrigerated or in room temp? I keep seeing mixed answers for this one too. Some say don’t keep it past 2 months, some say until they finish it, some people say refrigerate and some say keep it room temp.

If someone could please just give me a clear answer 😭 or at least guide me. I want to know if I need to purchase some new bac water and if I should discard the bac water I have after a certain amount of time. Thank you

For my initial Reta run, I mixed a 15mg vial with 1.5mL of Hospira BAC water, and I got 2 months of use out of it. It still seemed potent and usable to me, and since I was moving up in dose, I could feel those shifts. Starting a fresh vial produced effects comparable to my prior dose, which reinforced my sense that the Reta hadn't degraded.

That said, storage method, dosing, and the solution you use for reconstitution all play a role.

Actually, I've done quite a bit of reading — that's exactly why I came to ask on a forum like this, where I'd put more stock in what people here say than in replies from folks who act like they've got it all figured out after a quick Reddit search. There's no call for being rude. Isn't helping each other out the entire reason for being on this forum?

Yeah, that’s pretty much the route I was going to take anyway. I’ll just use up the whole vial, as long as it doesn’t turn cloudy or show any obvious changes. Thanks!

Yeah, that tracks

Responses will differ a lot from person to person. As far as I'm concerned, though, I stop at 8 weeks and it has never caused me any problems. Going beyond that is probably fine, but I've never had a reason to try. These days the amount I purchase gets used up in 4 weeks, so it's not something I have to think about.

🤔

So you're already aware that "28 days" tends to be the answer most people give when this gets asked on Reddit. Given that, what would another informal poll of folks here and their personal habits actually add for you? At this stage, it seems like the more useful move would have been to dig into the origin of that 28 days number — what leads people to land on it, and whether those underlying reasons actually hold up.

What matters most is your own comfort level. Just be sure to sanitize thoroughly using alcohol, keep it refrigerated away from light, and avoid leaving it out for extended periods.

What was the mg amount you used when reconstituting? Did you break that down week by week according to your dose to estimate how many weeks it would cover?

Hey! Whenever I use it, I swab the vial with alcohol first. I mixed 10mg using 1ml of bac water. My plan for month 1 is 1mg, so I'd have 6mg left, and after that month is up I want to raise it to 1.5mg — meaning from the start date, finishing the vial would take me 2 months.

The one issue: I don't store my reta and bac somewhere dark, is that a problem?

Your approach makes sense. Extending beyond 28 days after mixing is generally low-risk, but keep an eye out for anything weird growing in the vials. According to SuperTrips' chart, the majority of peptides hold their potency well at 60 days and past that too.

As for BAC water, it comes down to what you're comfortable with and how much risk you're willing to accept. The advice to keep it at room temperature and throw it out after 28 days appears to come from FDA guidance that doesn't actually endorse this practice; instead, they fall back on a "unless otherwise recommended" type of statement.

I'm currently using peptides that were mixed 90 days ago, along with BAC water that's 3 months old. A lot of us are doing the same. You just have to figure out what feels reasonable to you.

Keeping it refrigerated is a good move, and typically that environment is dark anyway (or so I assume!). Stick it inside something light-blocking and you're good. The main thing is to avoid parking it on a counter where sun hits it for hours on end.

I stick with Hospira until the bottle is finished, and I've had reconstituted peptides hold up fine for 8 weeks. New folks come in and skip the reading.

With the door shut, the fridge stays dark, so keeping it in there ought to be okay. It would also be a good idea to store your vial inside another container so it stays clean. Since I use a pen cart, no air gets introduced on each use and I'm not drawing from it, so I'm at ease going longer.

After you titrate upward (you'll find out how your body responds), a larger dose may become necessary, and it'll get depleted sooner.

Yep, that’s right—you clearly aren’t reading, because if you were, you’d already know that some folks recommend discarding bac water 1 month after opening. That’s exactly why I’m asking…

So I should just carry on as before 😅 do you keep your bac water somewhere at room temperature?
