Hi everyone,

Is there any information available about the shelf life of an unopened Mounjaro box kept at room temperature?

Thanks so much ❤️

Per Lilly's own label, single-dose pens and vials can stay outside the fridge at up to 30°C for a combined 21 days, while the multi-dose KwikPen available here in Australia is allowed a total of 30 days at room temperature. Keep it inside the box and away from light, and once that period is up it's finished, even if you put it back in the fridge afterwards. Being in Queensland, I can say 30°C is a low threshold during summer, so a cool cupboard is a better choice than the kitchen bench.

In practice, the product stays safe and keeps working well past what the official documentation says. I keep using mine right to the end. I have a semaglutide vial that's already open (I take some now and then for a boost) and it's spent more than a year in my fridge. It still does the job and I've never felt ill from it.

Goodness, is that accurate?

I had assumed a pre-filled pen might spoil after 1-2 days at room temperature?

Provided the API was prepared in a pharma lab, lyophilized under sterile conditions, and subject to FDA inspections, then reconstituted and filled in a lab setting.

Whether our pens would satisfy the same standards as EL is something I doubt.

I've seen mentions of PTDS testing on this topic, though I don't know whether those results are publicly available or have ever seen them myself. What I've taken away, though, is that Tirz is essentially bulletproof. I'm still hunting for the evidence, but the fact that it comes through freezing should tell you something.
