How Do Vendor Connection and Marketplace Vendors Differ?

My rough grasp is that Vendor Connection consists of sellers who've paid for advertising on this site, whereas Marketplace Vendors haven't paid for advertising here?

Could anyone clear this up? Thanks!

The amount one pays is higher than what the other pays.
 
From what I gather:

Vendor's connection: Amazon, Walmart, Google

Marketplace Vendors: Farmer's Market, Mom and Stepfather store, etc.

Plus what CNCCurrency mentioned earlier.
