Hey everyone! Since October 2023 I've been taking semaglutide that my doctor prescribed. Combining that medication with my diet and workouts, I've dropped 202 pounds. My starting weight was 390, and I'm now at 188. It's still hard for me to wrap my head around that.

Words can't really capture how dramatically this whole process has reshaped my life. I'm a better man, husband, and father because of it. When I began, I felt completely helpless and without hope. I broke things down into small targets, 5 pounds at a time, and just kept at it consistently.

The semaglutide worked really well for me. I didn't deal with much nausea. I lift weights 3 days each week. I'm able to do carb cycling and keep my protein intake high. The one downside has been constipation, which I've been able to manage.

I ended up here because my employer recently switched insurance providers. Under the new plan, semaglutide and Tirzepatide aren't covered for weight loss. And sadly, I don't fit their criteria for coverage under any other diagnosis right now. Even though I've completely overhauled my lifestyle, the idea of quitting at this point scares me badly. I've still got another 10-20 pounds I want to shed. My doctor is advising me to stop abruptly.

So with all of that in mind, I'm looking into grey market/UGL Reta, Tirz, or sema. Right now Reta looks like the clear pick given how I live. Building muscle is my goal. I need to be able to eat more protein without discomfort and do carb cycling. This community seems like the ideal spot to dig into the research and figure out how to make it work.

Appreciate the welcome!

Hello and welcome — what a fantastic achievement you've made so far. You've found the ideal community to help you keep going with your weight loss efforts. I'd guess a lot of us landed here for the same reasons: insurance won't pay for GLP1, or we simply can't or won't pay the outrageous out-of-pocket cost of the medication. Nearly anything you might want to know can be found on this forum, and it's all been discussed many times over. As for me, I hung around reading posts for roughly a month or longer before I finally took the plunge, registered an account, and started contributing. Try searching the forum — chances are you'll locate what you're after — but don't hesitate to ask questions too, just make sure you follow the rules regarding new members and posting. Ultimately, you'll discover that just about everyone here is incredibly encouraging.
