Hey everyone, I just joined this group and wanted to say a bit about myself. I'm a 43-year-old guy living in Cali who enjoys video games on warm summer evenings and those long walks to the fridge lol. Joking aside, that lifestyle is likely what led to my blood pressure issues, blood sugar problems, and fatty liver. With that in mind, I decided in January of 2025 to make some changes, so I signed up at a gym and began meal prepping. Since I had no clue what I was doing, I turned to an AI app on my phone to build a meal plan and workout routine. When I asked my physician about GLPs, the only thing they said was that it doesn't work for everyone and that I'd regain everything once I stopped. They told me that building more muscle and raising my protein intake would let me burn calories faster and more sustainably. I mostly agree with that, but I was after more of a quick fix or an immediate solution. I wanted to shed weight and get healthy while I still had the motivation, because in the past that motivation only lasted a few weeks. At that point I was 240. The progress felt too slow, so I went ahead and tried a "safe" supplement I found online that supposedly boosted muscle growth so I could burn fat faster. After roughly 3 months on that stuff, I had put on 30 pounds. I was constantly hungry, and my AI generated meal plan gave me 3 options for each meal but didn't specify, so my dumb ass ate all 3 options every meal. My ankles hurt, my whole body hurt. I was making decent gym progress and still gaining muscle, but my fat was growing twice as much. I finished August of last year at 270. My doctor finally prescribed zepbound and I thought I was finally saved. Naturally big insurance never wants to pay, so they denied the request. I ended up searching online and bought a glp1 from a pharmacy out of pocket. I started it with zero effects at the lowest dose, and someone mentioned the latest and greatest glp to me and told me how much of a game changer it was for them. So I switched. Combined with a few other things for a solid stack, I have lost the 30 pounds that I gained. Increased muscle mass. Dropped visceral numbers from 20 to 16 so far body fat from 38% to 30%. Have been able to get off all blood pressure related meds, and my latest labs have improved immensely. My liver labs are perfect, a1c has reach the green. Really making good progress. I found this group and decided to join and see other success. Thank you for having me.
