Hey y'all! Nervous and excited both describe how I feel about being here. My career sits in Healthcare Communications — in-house or alongside pharmas and biotechs for well over 10+ years — so GLP-1s were familiar territory. Discovering the "grey market", though, genuinely blew my mind. Plenty of drugs have gone to market under my watch, yet the openness and hunger for medication adoption here is something I'd never seen or felt. Watching the Ozempic story evolve has been a pleasure; what people will and won't accept out of pharma is fascinating…
Personally, being among the smallest in my immediate and extended family meant weight occupied my thoughts constantly. Sports and academic activities filled my brother's and my childhood, so rigor and discipline came naturally. What I hadn't grasped was how demanding adult life would prove, or the toll that life events can take on body, mind and spirit when they go untended.
The tally: 6 surgeries, a career-ending injury during my Junior year of UG, a car accident that left permanent nerve damage, plus a fibromyalgia diagnosis. Predictably, the pounds arrived gradually, bringing migraine and chronic pain along.
December brought a pre-diabetic and peri-menopausal diagnosis, and with it my decision that excuses were finished and life wouldn't get the better of me any longer. .50mg Wegovy is my current dose; it stops in 3 weeks, and I'm hunting the stack that gets me to my "Lose No Less Than 40 By 40"
For the moment I've chosen Reta, KLOW, Semax, Selank and NAD+ to carry me there. Everything about my lifestyle, my relationship with food AND family, and my boundaries has shifted thanks to the Wegovy kickstart. My brother walks this path beside me, and together we're ending generational curses.
