Hey there, everybody!
John here, writing from Northern California. The reason I signed up recently is that I want to gain knowledge from folks who've dealt with GLP-1 drugs directly, and to join a group that gets how challenging this process can be. I was prescribed wegovy and saw essentially nothing happen, then zepbound raised all the way to the highest dose, until my insurance cut off coverage.
For years, weight has been a battle for me. The most I ever weighed was about 306 pounds (I stand 6'4"), and rather than going after fast solutions, I've been putting in effort toward lasting changes in how I live. I've made some progress already and there's still a distance ahead, but I'm dedicated to bettering my health over the long haul. Right now I'm at 245 and breaking below 240 feels impossible. My target is 220-230 while adding muscle.
Also, I just finished a medical program, so I get enjoyment from studying the science underlying these drugs, diet, and creating routines that stick. Still, my main reason for being here is as a person going through this too, and I realize there's plenty to pick up from those with lived experience.
What I want to find out about includes diet, working out, handling adverse effects, keeping results long-term, and discovering what's been effective for others. On my side, I aim to add value wherever I can and be a constructive member of this group.
I appreciate the welcome. I'm eager to meet you all and gain from what everyone shares!
