Hi all, I hope your day is going great!

My username probably gives it away — weight loss is something I care about.

So here's my situation: I've been through this before. At my heaviest I was 122kg (around 270lbs), and I managed to get down to 88kg (194lbs) with roughly 17-18% body fat.

That was achieved with zero peptides or similar aids — only running plus a calorie deficit. These days I'm trying to repeat that, but the mental chatter is unbearable. I keep eating and can't stop. I've climbed back to 100kg (225lbs) and I really hate it. It honestly feels like being on MK677, except it's my own body doing it (going off what I've read online — I've never actually taken it).

I can genuinely put away 5-7k calories without any trouble, and I could push past that too. I stay active and hit the gym 4-5 times per week, but I have to find something to get my appetite under control, because it's completely out of hand.

Retatrutide and tirzepatide are what I want to learn about — I think they'd help me a lot.

Can't wait to pick up knowledge from everyone here!

I've found myself in quite comparable circumstances before. Back around 2011 I dropped from 122kg down to 65 kg, and held that off for close to 3 years. Then I began eating some of the "wrong" foods, and I simply couldn't stop — that year I gained 20 to 30 kilos, and by 2022 I had reached 145kg.

During 2022 I once more succeeded in shedding most of it, getting down to 75kg. A year later I noticed that a low dose of ozempic was more or less within reach at australian prices, so I gave it a go. It unquestionably curbed my hunger and made it simpler to accept eating roughly half the calories per day that my body was urging me toward, yet it also left me feeling nauseous the entire time.

After that I changed over to tirzepatide 15mg plus roughly 4mg of retatrutide, which gives far better appetite control and fewer side effects.

I wish these drugs had existed on any of the earlier occasions when I had succeeded in bringing my weight down, but they exist now. And they genuinely assist with keeping weight loss going. Since moving to tirzepatide I have gradually reached 69kg, and I believe there is a fair chance it can be sustained.

Considering that what you describe is a loss of control over eating, along with the large number of calories per day, it really does sound like binge eating disorder. I am fairly confident I had it too. It could be worth getting expert help for it, but from what I know tirzepatide or retatrutide are likely the most effective treatments for at least the weight aspect of it in any case, and the lowered hunger, food noise, and cravings from glp medications make a big difference.
