Hi everyone!
I'm wrapping up my 2nd month on GLP-1, and right now I'm dosing retatrutide at 4mg / wk. The scale shows a 12 lb drop, and honestly I'm happy with that! This whole thing has been a bit of a rollercoaster! Up to this point I haven't dealt with the rough side effects other people describe (fingers crossed), but I've been soaking up information as fast as I can so I can handle this more intelligently.
For now, my aim is simply to get fit again — during an Alaskan winter, staying active outdoors and keeping up training is often a serious hurdle. Fun fact: I grew up in Missouri, and ended up stranded in Alaska when the 2020 COVID lockdowns hit (haha....ahhhhhhhhh). Safe to say the winter pounds have piled on since then. Obesity, heart issues, and type II diabetes run in my family. So far I've been fortunate to stay fairly healthy and solidly in the "overweight" range. Still, I miss the fitness level I had when I could run half marathons, and believe it or not, carrying this extra weight has made it much harder to get back into rock climbing. I'm working on turning things around! I'm cautiously optimistic, but I'm also being careful not to slip into a crash diet on top of everything. Looking forward to building a community here and finding more resources for my journey.
Thanks! See you around the mix!
