Has anyone here taken peps or pep pens on an international trip? With Global Entry, are you able to bypass the part where you show and explain them?

What rules apply when flying with these meds, both within the US and into the EU?

How did it go for you?

I'm going over there this summer and want to pack a couple of pens..

Keen to hear what people say. What about domestic travel inside the US.. Can you fly with research peptides at all? Are syringes pre-filled? Vials packed?

Just got back from a trip that went CA → UK → Germany → UK → CA. In my carry-on I had a type 1 pen loaded with Tirz, plus pen needles in a plastic case. Because I have Global Entry, there was no show and tell. Honestly, nobody even mentioned it. Security simply doesn't care. That said, I figure an injection pen comes across as more legit.

I have been to 2 countries with brand-name, prescribed vials and syringes. TSA showed no reaction at all. However, if the vial is random and lacks a pharmacy-style label plus a prescription … the outcome could be different

I’ve taken reconstituted vials and syringes on both domestic and international trips. Nothing happened at all—no additional scrutiny, no inquiries. They stay with my other medications, and each vial is labeled. I went through using my Global Entry, and nobody even looked twice.

My own experience matches that, whether I'm flying within the country or abroad. Also, Global Entry is not a security screening point the way TSA is, nor like the security you go through at an international airport. GE simply bundles biometric immigration processing together with customs declarations into a quicker queue. Over at JFK, CBP has been introducing biometrics for standard immigration and customs, which speeds up the "regular" line considerably compared with what it used to be. A photo is taken, you collect your bags, and then you exit. GE works the same way.

To the original poster: you haven't said where you're flying internationally, but my advice would be to look into that a bit. My international trips are limited to western Europe, where bringing peptides carries very little risk. Should your destination be a place with stricter drug regulations (for example Japan, UAE, Singapore, China, Russia, North Korea, and so on), having information specific to that location would be worthwhile. One example that sticks in my mind is the WNBA star who was held in Russia over a small quantity of marijuana. Even in those other countries, peptides probably pose very little risk as well, but it's the kind of thing worth confirming.

What do the labels look like? Did you feel uneasy the first time you injected it?

I print my own labels using a Nimbot. They're pretty basic. Taking it along and injecting it didn't stress me out at all.

People ask about this constantly. If I'm going overseas, I won't carry anything lacking an Rx.

Inside the US, TSA has no interest in your peps, though a suitcase packed full might raise a question, and at that point they can choose to involve local police if they want to. That matches how it goes with the edibles I take on domestic trips; they've even inspected mine and shrugged it off.

When you cross into or out of a country, yes, you might pass through without any search... But get singled out for a hands-on inspection and a customs officer will be going through your peps. I've had foreign customs search me (never US) a few times when I wasn't carrying peps; they put me in a room, dumped everything out of my bags, and came right up to the line of a strip search without going there.

Each country has its own statute on importing medications. Most places legally require a prescription or a doctor's note plus a supply under 90 days. Crossing into another country works under the same law as when a Chinese vendor ships your peps: seizure, fines, and charges are all possible. It rarely makes the news unless you're watching those reality/documentary shows about customs officers. If luck is on your side, they'll only swab it and conclude there's nothing "bad" inside.

For meds coming into the US from MEX or CAN... generally they permit it if it's under a 90 day supply of something legal, but the letter of the law says an Rx is required. No idea why fines aren't handed out every time, since fines are a revenue source for them.

Some doctors do prescribe peps, both in the US and elsewhere. Where prescribing it is legal in that country, I might simply locate a doctor willing to write me a script. My family would be furious if I got turned away from (or something worse at) our favorite country to visit.

I've made multiple trips to Europe and have another one planned for this summer. I'll be bringing some with me too. When you've got a prescription and so on… there's no issue. Without any medical authorization to back it up, though, you might get pulled aside and asked questions.

Based on what I've come across and been told, if it's for personal use, confiscation is the most they can do. It varies by peptide. A number of them are fine, and plenty are not. From what I've seen and read, their rules on peptides appear to be comparable to those in the US.

Same situation here.

Constantly. My peptides go into a lunchbox alongside my medical equipment and a cold pack, and that lunchbox goes into checked baggage.

The one time anyone questioned me was a trip where I skipped the cold pack. Instead I brought an ice pack, and it was in a carry-on with me. On the x-ray they spotted it, opened everything up, and wanted to know what the bag of partially melted ice was for. I explained it was ice for my medication; they swabbed it for drugs or explosives, then waved me through.

Here's the thing — start from the fact that peptides are not illegal (in the US or any EU country I know of). Keep that in mind. There is genuinely no (US) federal law that criminalizes possessing peptides or unscheduled drugs/medication like tirz or hgh (the only federal laws target selling or transferring them to others. Possession without a prescription is actually allowed; what you can't legally do is sell them or hand them to anyone who lacks a prescription for them.)

Also remember: their field testing machines are looking for hard drugs and explosives. Not peptides.

Tomorrow I leave for an international trip, and my peps are staying behind. Traveling isn’t something I do often, so I’d rather not take the chance—still, it’s reassuring to hear it can be that simple.

I realize this thread is about the EU, but Australia is somewhere I go frequently, and their "Incoming Passenger Card" requires you to list any medications.

Below is what AI says regarding taking Ozempic into AUS, and after checking their laws myself, I think it's correct..

Undeclared Ozempic plus no prescription can land you in serious trouble:

  • Medication Seizure: It gets taken away and destroyed right away.
  • Heavy Fines: A false declaration can bring on-the-spot fines of as much as AUD $6,600.
  • Visa Cancellation: Your tourist or temporary visa may be cancelled immediately.
  • Deportation & Ban: You'll be deported and automatically banned from Australia for 3 years.
The Golden Rule: Always check YES on your card. Declaring it means you can't be fined or penalized, even if they still take it because there's no prescription.

HGH or things like it are a different situation, though, you'll be arrested without Rx. It all comes down to what you're bringing.

Have a good trip. If you won't be gone for long, it's reasonable to simply not bring your peptides.

When it comes to medications, Australia enforces extremely tight rules. Taking a grey-market peptide vial or pen through Australian border security is something I would not even consider.
