After reading the diet thread on Reta/Tirz, I felt like starting this one. When I was doing keto, the food noise hit me much harder than it does now on Reta. I stayed very strict, but every so often I needed a cheat so I wouldn't lose my mind. At that time I'd hit low-quality take aways and treat myself to dirty kebabs. Since keto was the plan, chips/fries were off the table — I'd just get double doner meat, veggies and tons of sauce...the cheaper, dirtier, more processed and unhealthy, the better it felt 😆 Now that desire is completely gone. My food is plain, tasteless and healthy, and I don't mind one bit. It's just a chore, no longer something that brings joy. Still, my one "guilty pleasure" and exception is a small bag (30g) of popcorn a couple times a week, whenever I get a slight urge to snack. That small bag is the perfect dose — no cravings after it at all...do you have a guilty pleasure, guys, or do you not need any while on Glp-1?

Coming from Ireland, it's odd that booze didn't make your guilty pleasure list🤣. I'm half Irish by ancestry, so I mean no offense, but the drinking culture there is definitely something special. Whenever I'm in Dublin, going out for drinks is a favorite of mine—not for getting drunk, but for the celebration, the music, and the company. It's a gorgeous country.

As for me, alcohol is my guilty pleasure. During my first 6-8 months on glp1-s, alcohol tasted terrible to me. Now, that taste has come back somewhat. These days I can manage a glass or two of wine, or some Irish whiskey. To keep the calories down, I take the whiskey with water or over ice. I call it my guilty pleasure since, as far as I know, alcohol has zero nutritional value.

I've been living in Eire for over 20 years, though my roots are in a different part of Europe. That said, my birth nation has a reputation for loving alcohol even more than the Irish do 😆 And whether you believe it or not, I've consumed far more in my lifetime than a whole army of people... yet for the past few years I've been completely dry, with just 1 exception. Once a holiday comes around, everything goes out the window, and for 1 week I revert to my old self... drinking from dusk til down or even longer... only beer, but still... and right now I'm a bit worried, because I've booked a holiday in Spain for August, and I love sipping their San Miguel all day long, but it will be my 1st holiday while on Reta....and I fear this time there will be no exceptions, since I have absolutely no urge to drink anything alcoholic 😐

Most Saturdays, when my grandsons are here, pizza is still on the menu. What's changed is that I struggle to get through even a single slice now. A weekly indulgence like that, I reckon, won't throw me off track too badly.

I wish I'd seen your post before I published mine lol — I'm having the same thoughts and feelings here

Yeah, I'm right there with you. In the past, that bulk bag of popcorn — 12 of those 30g bags — would have been gone in one sitting, and I still wouldn't have felt satisfied...these days, 30g of popcorn leaves me completely full...

Back when I followed keto, my experience matched that. Many people in the keto community claimed ketosis would eliminate cravings, yet for me it never did. The same folks promised that hunger would eventually fade during fasting, and that also never came true for me. Whether I was in ketosis or fasting, the food noise was INSANE.

Once reta entered the picture, I dropped keto, since I'd read that reta performs better with carbs in the diet. During keto I had been quite strict, mainly out of worry about falling out of ketosis. These days on reta, whenever a craving shows up, I simply eat. The odd part is that cravings barely happen now. Food rarely crosses my mind. Occasionally I feel hungry at night, but daytime eating was never my habit anyway.

For years the advice has been that breakfast matters most and that late-night eating is harmful, but I've learned that battling my own body gets me nowhere. By following what feels natural, I've dropped close to 90lbs. Reta has been a huge help with overeating and with constantly wanting high calorie foods. To me, it truly comes down to calories in, calories out.

I'm in the same boat. During my first 4-5 months on Tirz, wine, whiskey and cigars all came across as "off" to me. Not pleasant. Not something I looked forward to. (Worth mentioning, work keeps me from drinking for months at a stretch, but then I get months off and drink however I like).

Bit by bit it shifted, or perhaps my taste for it adapted, and these days I can savor a glass of red wine, a splash of whiskey, or some rum, neat or over a single ice cube. Occasionally I add a dash of Grand Marnier to the whiskey for extra sweetness.

Couldn't agree more. During my keto phase, I'd literally dream about food, and my wife used to say that while I was asleep my jaw kept moving as if I were chewing on something 😆 The whole time I was simply famished. Every single day felt like a fight. These days that torment is gone, and honestly it feels like being set free. Eating barely even registers now...

I'm still able to eat! That means my pleasure list, which isn't really guilty, is quite long... Breads, pizza and noodles top it. The good news: I can now stop after 1 small pizza instead of finishing an entire large one. A win is a win!

For as long as I can remember, baked goods have been my weak spot. These days the cravings don't hit me very often, but when they do, I'll have 1 cookie or 1 slice of cake without any issue. Before reta, that same situation meant 6 cookies or a mortifyingly big chunk of a cake — now it's just 1 cookie or 1 slice, so it's no longer a problem.

For me, it was the same way! The flavor simply seemed "off". I didn't find it pleasurable.

It makes me happy that the taste came back, even if it's a bit lessened, which I suppose is a positive.
