Getting the copper peptide right for crown thinning - dosing, serum, microneedling

A while back I gave it a go for a short stretch, but it hurt like hell! Keeping it going was the plan, but there was bleeding and it was expensive. Hopefully more replies land on this thread since I am interested too.
Was lidocaine applied beforehand?

No, that never occurred to me. The GHK went in at the same time as the AHK as well, so my hair turned blue! 😝

How deep was the stamping you did? It is not something I have done myself, but my impression was that you keep the depth shallow enough that it never reaches the blood vessels. That could be completely wrong though.

Serum is how I apply it. Colleagues at work keep being told my hair is not greasy, it is a treatment product.

My AHK-Cu serum recipe:

Yields 60ml total:

| Ingredient | % | Volume |

|———————————————|

| Propylene Glycol | 60% | 36 ml |

| Ethanol (190 proof) | 30% | 18 ml |

| Distilled Water | 10% | 6 ml |

Dosing AHK-Cu between 1-3%:

  • at 1% you need 0.6g
  • at 2% you need 1.2g (this is the suggested start)
  • at 3% you need 1.8g

The order matters: AHK-Cu dissolves into the PG first, ethanol goes in second, water last.

It lives in my fridge
Mind if I ask whether Everclear is what you use? Nothing labeled ethanol turns up in the pharmacies around Florida, and Everclear cannot legally be sold here. A small bottle of Everclear was something I made a point of buying on a trip to Delaware, but it is still unused.

Obviously I cannot speak for Youarewhen, but full strength Everclear should do the job. 190 proof, after all.

Cosmetic AHKCu powder goes into BAC water in a brown bottle for me. What comes out is quite watery but okay. A little glicerine is added to thicken it up. Watery is fine either way. An eye dropper puts some onto my scalp and I rub it in by hand. Bedtime is when this happens. On waking, minoxidil from Costco goes on. None of these get rinsed off.
As I understand it, alcohol carries AHK-Cu better than HA or water does. An ethanol-based solution apparently gets through the top layer of skin more effectively. That said, it came out of a conversation with ChatGPT. Ethanol was its specific suggestion, but with no ethanol to be found I went with 90% isopropyl alcohol, which it judged a workable option. Propylene glycol was also added, per the recipe it produced.

Worth saying that in the same session, alcohol solutions and microneedling do not play well together--the sting is considerable.

Yeah, my hope was to track down something labeled ethanol here in South Florida, cheaper and easier than driving to a liquor store in another state. Georgia is a long drive!

Denatured ethanol would be fine by me too, the sort with a bitter additive so nobody drinks it. Over in the Home Depot paint department there is a product called "Fuel" that I hesitated over. Denatured ethanol is my belief, but sitting next to the paint strippers made me uneasy.

Yeah, that trick was never going to fly with my hair blue! 😝
