Since I've had conversations with a ton of vendors who address me as dear and friend, I've run into a few replies that were amusing or just plain odd. Figured it could be entertaining to swap stories about this here. (Yep, I'm bored!)

Today I got this one while inquiring about a product: after they sent a COA from last year, I asked whether that was still the batch being sold, and here's what came back:

"It's not from the same batch, but the product quality is the same. This was produced by a machine and there won't be any differences. It was produced by a factory. Regarding the product quality, you can rest assured."

I haven't replied yet, simply because... that answer left me a bit worn out.

Makes you question how smart the customers must be who heard that claim, took it at face value, and then acted in a way that let him feel fine saying it again.
Robert B Cialdini, PH.D, wrote Influence.

According to what he described in that book, research has demonstrated that when someone makes a statement and then tacks on any justification—regardless of how basic or obvious it may be—people tend to go along with it almost every time. His example involved someone cutting ahead in a photocopier line, where the stated hurry was “I need to make some copies.” The fact that the excuse was so thin barely changed the outcome at all.

This plays out for all of us personally, doesn't it? Those moments when mustering the energy to push back or object feels like too much effort

Thousands of people out there trust tiktok influencers more than folks with advanced degrees and experience. Not shocking, but really disappointing.
