Today marked a significant milestone for me. Yet the story behind it doesn't start on a happy note.

Depression was part of my life for 4 years. That initial year proved the hardest — hospital stays, times I vanished, days and nights when police and family combed the area searching while I was trapped somewhere I couldn't get out of.

At some point, I turned to food as my way of coping. It was among the few sources of comfort I had, fleeting as it was. Across those years, I put on 5 stone.

Prior to all that, cycling 25 miles daily was normal for me. It defined part of who I was. Slowly though, that version of me slipped away. The habit died, drive vanished, and in the end, I shifted from being active in everything to doing absolutely nothing.

Now here I am, 1 month into turning my life around. I got on the scales and discovered 10kg had disappeared. That's not only weight — it's doubt, pain, and the stuck version of myself gone too.

Just 1 month back, I had zero motivation. No clear path. Today, I'm putting myself back together — stronger, sharper, more resolved than I've ever been. I'm not merely returning to who I was… I'm turning into someone improved.

This won't be short-lived. It's not some passing stage. It's a pledge.

I'm committed for the long haul. Nothing can hold me back now. My head is clear, my aim is fixed, and at last the road ahead is visible.

It's tough that things have been so hard for you, but I'm really glad you're turning a corner! Losing 10kg after a month is impressive. Stay positive, and it's great to have you back.

Hoping you achieve Incredible results & that all that lies ahead turns out far better & brighter for you!! You can do it!!

Great job getting off to such a strong beginning. Let us know how things go from here. Many of us were in the same boat prior to making a break that changed our lives. That place is behind you for good now. Wishing you the best as you keep going.

Nice work — that's something to take pride in! 👏👏👏. Having battled serious depression alongside my weight for close to 40 years, I understand that struggle completely. Once the fat begins to melt away, that incredible sense of achievement makes every bit of it worthwhile.

Thanks for telling us about your journey! Also, nice work on losing 10kg. Keep your spirits up, stay focused on what you want to achieve, and you'll reach it before you know it.

What you have done so far is really courageous — you located the determination and dedication needed to get going. This community includes folks following all sorts of routes, yet they have gotten help whenever they required it. Well done on such a strong beginning.

Well done on getting going, and best of luck — that mindset is a solid foundation for making genuine life changes.

It’s achievable. 3 1/2 years back I weighed 145kg, had no energy or motivation, felt drained all the time, and 100m was about my limit. These days I’m 66 kg, and although my life is far from ideal, it’s a far more bearable place to be and I can actually do things once more.

That is genuinely wonderful to hear! Knowing there are others whose journeys began where mine did makes this feel far more meaningful — I started at 150kg and am now at 140kg. Even walking the half mile for the school run used to require stops along the way, since my legs would swell. I am so pleased things have gone this well for you, and I appreciate you posting about it — it truly matters a great deal!
