Just wondering if anyone has frozen reconstituted tirzepatide in pen cartridges. Theoretically, I'm thinking that there really should be no difference between freezing a pen cart versus a vial, but not sure. It probably wouldn't be a great idea to extact all the air from the cart prior to freezing as to leave space for expansion. Although with a pen cart the stopper isn't crimped in like a vial, so maybe it's not a good idea as a freezing container. I could reconsitute, then freeze in a regular vial, defrost when I need it and then put the thawed tirz into the pen cart. It's just another step I was hoping to avoid.

Thank you. I appreciate the link and the effort to assist, that was really nice. I was actually was asking about whether it’s okay to freeze reconstituted tirzepatide in a pen cartridge versus a vial as that would save me a step, but I think a vial is ultimately going to be safer. I’m aware that tirzepatide can be frozen.

Yeah, it will expand. As long as the cart isn't too full (and won't pop out the stopper) you should be fine. However, I generally would only do this with Tirz, and limit the number of cycles to 1. Probably, only worth it if you're holding it for 90 days or more.

Thanks! I figured that there could be some expansion and that the stopper might move, which is why I asked. I was only planning on doing this with tirz for 1 freeze/thaw cycle. Maybe I'll just leave it in the fridge and call it a day. I wasn't planning on keeping it frozen too long.

I've been wondering the same! I had a cart I filled & didn't need it for a while, but ended up giving it to someone else since I didn't know & didn't want to waste it.

I would love to recon all at once & freeze the carts, but I don't want them all to blow out & lose them all either. I was thinking of leaving the air space for expansion, but was also thinking if that could possibly let anything creep in there

I freeze carts. I just make sure they're only 2/3 full (I could probably get away with more), and I get all the air out before I freeze so that if the expansion pushes the stopper back, it won't blow out. I've also frozen WITHOUT doing that, and not lost a stopper.

You have actually done it so that is great news that it hasn't happened to any of them. Do you think 1.5ml is enough since that's only 1/2 full? My Tirz 30 (34mg tested) I want to lower the volume (this time I did 2ml but want to go down to 1.5 in case I keep needing to go up) 🙂

Yeah, here, look. I just went and looked in my freezer. Got a full cart of klow that I froze and forgot about til just now, and a half cart of survo cause I'm temporarily switched to reta and don't need it right now. Stopper didn't move on either that I can see.

Yay!! Thank you!! That is such great news!! My next recon I'm doing kits in carts. That way I dont have to waste the rest of my Hospira, (especially since I started low & will take a bit to get through each cart). I appreciate the pic too!! Thank you for taking the time!! 🙂

BTW, can this be done for other peps like tesa or ghk-cu too?

I'm curious as well. Have a blend of BPC / TB / KPV that I make for a family member, would be nice to be able to prep them ahead of time and remove from freezer as needed...
