A stranger going by the name Dear reached out to me on WhatsApp regarding these dual chamber cartridges. "She" shared a few pictures and videos, yet I'm still not clear on how they actually function. Obviously I could search online or consult AI, but doing it this way is more entertaining. You need this in your life?

What kind of device would even accept those? Seems like it would require a highly specialized pen.

If a stranger touches the septum with their fingers, it's safe to assume the contents are contaminated.

The whole point is mixing right before use and using it just once. You could just as easily do the same thing with a vial and a syringe.

On AE I've come across empty ones, though not the matching pens. My impression is that they're larger than the usual 3ml ones.

What's the reason for it being a single dose? Couldn't you have 120mg reta, say, and have it keep going for as long as... it keeps going?

Having 120mg of reta in a single vial is already a crazy quantity, given how it breaks down (unless the vial is shared).

A pen shouldn't be passed around either — far too many end up with traces of backflow. Blood backflow? 🤔 That's not hygienic.

A fresh business idea just occurred to me. Sure, there are already folks out there offering pre-mixed, ready-to-use pens, but shipping something like that through the postal system to another person feels pretty dubious.

Take 30mg of reta as an illustration, for instance?

They've existed for a while now. Unless it came from a close personal friend, I wouldn't put any faith in it—after reconstitution they break down, they arrive without cold packs, and there's no way to know your dealer is keeping things sterile. Dumb decisions are always going to happen, but I'd hope nobody in this space is foolish enough to go there. 😵‍💫

Less risky. I take 10mg every 5-7 days, so 60mg vials have been my go-to. Personally, I wouldn't leave reta reconstituted much beyond that window. It doesn't hold up the way tirz does.

Even so, these make me uneasy. I don't want to rely on someone else's math, and I'm not sure whether Jano is able to test them. A scammer could just as easily ship filler, or some careless person could send the wrong pep.

In what way could you place the bac and the pep into one chamber? Would you pull it from the back?

From what I understand, they’re made for products that get mixed right before you inject them, meaning they aren’t intended to be kept around for the long haul.

Sure, you might find other uses for them, but why bother? Does the seller send them out like that? And can you be sure everything stays sterile while they’re being filled?

I suppose reaching out to the manufacturer and asking them to fill those vials would be necessary. That seems like far too much effort, so my latest business idea is dead in the water.

(Just to be clear: I'm kidding!)

On AE, the images make the mechanism clearer: about halfway along the cartridge sits a notch, and it extends further than the plunger does. This allows both chambers to join and the contents to blend. Still, I can easily imagine myself pushing with too much force, sending the plunger beyond where it should stop.

Huge marketing opportunity here 🤑🤑🤑

A middle-ground option: no cold storage needed before it's mixed. Throw in a small device to drive the plunger the right distance—not too much—plus 6 pen needles, and it'll fly off the shelves.

And don't leave out an instruction sheet made only of images, so nobody has to read anything.

My name for it: IKEA TIRZ®️
