Dr. Froese discusses Reta: Good, Bad, Ugly

A PCP putting videos about grey on the internet is something I'll never get my head around! I keep wanting to go and check their credentials.

Edit: is this secretly an LMNT ad? The info is good regardless.

She makes it clear every time that this isn't something she's advising you to do, yet she knows exactly what goes on among people in this space - so think of it as a public service announcement, more or less. Throughout the videos she sprinkles in plenty of I AM NOT TELLING YOU TO DO THIS disclaimer language. Anyway, I appreciate that she breaks down the physiology of what's going on. 🙂

I see your point. To me, though, a physician putting this kind of content out there seems risky when it comes to how they're viewed professionally. Then again, with so many folks on these compounds these days, it might actually bring more traffic through their doors.

Either way, the information is useful. My remark was really just about her deciding to make a youtube video on the subject.

From what I can tell, the stance that Froese, Tatem, and Stillson share is that the FDA has failed to treat peptides fairly. Sudden bans that come without any reasoning, and so on — perhaps driven more by pressure from BP lobbyists. Having gone through what I've read and watched, I'm inclined to share that view.

I'd guess it's the #ad money behind it 🤐

Her videos work for me, yet the pace of her speech is so quick that I struggle to follow along. Then again, that might be a reflection of my own processing speed rather than anything on her end. Honestly, she would be perfect for a second job rattling off the fine print in BP commercials.

Solid breakdown of the side effects, plus what Reta does and how it works — found it pretty interesting.

I didn't expect much, but the material on Youtube turned out to be solid. These days I avoid that site when I want real medical information, since so much junk is on there. That said, a couple of things bother me: she holds up a vial while on camera, and there are video edits showing a person purchasing what appears to be the medication over the internet.

Her office is a 30min drive from where I live, and it seems like her practice is slammed. I wanted her to be my PCP, but she had closed her panel to new patients. That's why I ended up on a waitlist 3 months back. Having a primary care doctor who actually gets peptides would be a plus, in my view. As for the PCP I have now, peptides are a mystery to them beyond Ozempic and Zepbound.

Funny enough, among the few YouTubers I watch, she's one where bumping playback to 1.25x isn't necessary for me—I'm actually the reverse and get irritated when videos feature slow, deliberate speech. The pace at which she speaks lines up perfectly with how my mind works 🤣

Dr. Froese seems solid to me. During one of her earlier clips, she mentions being aware that folks use peptides bought on the grey market, and she aims to give info as a PCP would. That disclaimer is there, and while she doesn't come right out and say it, you get the sense she uses them too. Honestly, I figure she's just offering a helpful service, and truth be told, she's the one who set me on the path to trying Reta. I found her YT by accident while hunting for something unrelated about back tightness, which took me to r/reta (a nasty, unhinged swamp) and then r/peptide, which mercifully brought me over here. Once I was here, my worries faded, I went for it, and yeah, it's been great!!
