If slowing down were possible, I would. Given how I’m currently approaching it, though, I’m sticking to what I ought to be doing. My concern is what this could do to my gallbladder, and whether I might develop gallbladder disease. Still, when I weigh that against my diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, fatty liver, and obesity, I think that if gallbladder disease happens and I end up losing my gallbladder, I’ll be OK.
Far as I can tell, tapering down to 3 or 2mg for a stretch isn't a big deal. Honestly, what you choose to do is your business, but this is just a pointer from somebody who's been at this longer than you have. Since the start of January, I've been dropping an average of 2.2lbs per week.
Glad things are working out for you. According to the trials, 4mg is the lowest dose that isn't classified as a starter dose. That's the level I'm on, and I plan to remain there unless I hit a 6-week plateau. (meaning no change in average weight and nothing notable on my Wyze scale) Things moved quickly at first, but now it's down to 2-3lbs per week. If someone truly couldn't care less, they probably wouldn't click your name, scroll through your old posts, and note how often you comment — yet you do exactly that, and you come across as though you believe you know what's right for every clueless newcomer.

I haven't been around here long, and you're drawing a lot of conclusions from 1 or 2 posts. My doctor and the weight loss team at the VA are overseeing what I'm doing. They run a program for weight loss called MOVE. There are thresholds that flag excessive weight loss, and I weigh myself every day on a 4g lte telehealth monitor, so they receive my daily weights. I log every meal, all my activity, and my blood sugar. According to them, I'm doing great. They can see my exercise, food, and blood sugar. Next week I go in for labs to check my liver AST and ALT, which were elevated, and an ultrasound showed fatty liver plus a few small stones in my gallbladder going back 10 years. They're monitoring that. My sleep apnea has improved to the machine's lowest pressure setting of 4. My fasting morning blood sugar used to average as high as 140 and is now around 85. The one thing I haven't told them is that I'm taking Reta rather than the Zepbound they gave me 4 weeks ago. I spent over 2 years looking into all of this before finally taking the leap. I don't consider myself uninformed. Having come from Nuclear Navy and Submarines, I'd say I know a thing or two about researching a subject.

So as I said, I'll continue doing what I'm doing and follow my doctors' instructions. Best of luck on your journey.
A heads-up regarding liver markers: my most recent bloodwork showed a slight worsening after roughly 8 weeks on Reta. I had thought those markers would get better, but I've since come across a few sources saying Reta may cause a short-term bump in them, and that hard workouts such as leg day can do the same. Worth keeping in mind before you look at your results.

That said, all cholesterol markers got better by about 15-20%, so overall the bloods are trending the right way.

Second pin happened today!

Week 1 went by without any trouble. I'm actually on vacation right now, and it's honestly surprising how simple it has been to stay on my meal plan lol. As far as workouts go, I've mostly done long walks plus 1 weight lifting session. Once my kid isn't with me this week, I'll bump up the weightlifting.

This time I stuck with 1mg aswell, and next week I'll move up to 2mg.

I'm also getting ready to purchase my first kit, prepared my crypto wallet, placed some funds to sit on Coinbase and found out how to swap from one crypto currency to another

Stats after week 1:

Starting weight: 136kg (299lbs)

Current weight: 134.3kg (296 lbs) - 1.7kg (3lbs)

Goal weight: 100kg (220lbs)

Tuesday again, which means it's time for a pin!

After close to 2 weeks eating 1700-2000 calories daily (maintenance is roughly 3000 for me) with barely any carbs, I found out what lifting weights feels like. I have never been this weak lol, and I failed a bench press for the first time ever — a proper failure where the bar ended up on my chest and I had to roll it off 😂

I've begun carb loading ahead of gym sessions using cream of rice, and it's working great for me; I can now lift near the level I was at before the heavy calorie deficit! Side effects aren't noticeable, though I'm still very tired on some days, which might also come from the heat and low calories.

Since weight is still coming off, I don't see a reason to increase to 2mg this week — perhaps next week!

Stats after week 2:

Starting weight: 136kg (299lbs)

Current weight: 133.5kg (294.3lbs) - 0.8kg (1.76lbs)

Goal weight: 100kg (220lbs)

Because my vacation got extended, I pinned on Wednesday this week. It was a pretty crazy week — I ate a lot more than in the weeks before and even did some partying. Drinking while on Reta is quite the experience, let me tell you! Before, I could put away 10-12 beers on a big night; this time 1 beer hit me like 3 😂. Even with the extra eating and the partying, I still dropped about 1kg, so I'm really pleased!

Yesterday I had fish — actually a lot of fish — and I think all that fat made my stomach seriously unhappy later that evening. Apart from that, still no side effects at all!

My first kit shows up at the post office later today, which I'm really excited about! And some 50ml BAC water is coming later this week too!

This week I'm stepping up to 2mg.

Stats after week 3:

Starting weight: 136kg (299lbs)

Current weight: 132.5kg (292.1lbs) - 1kg (2.2lbs)

Goal weight: 100kg (220lbs)

Wednesday pin again this week, 2mg.

Back at work now, so things have mostly returned to routine. Still feeling really good, and I'm snacking way less at the office than I used to! I'm also trying to steer clear of hangovers while on reta, since they hit me much harder now, which works out as another bonus!

Week 4 stats:

Starting weight: 136kg (299lbs)

Current weight: 131.1kg (289lbs) - 1.4kg (3lbs)

Goal weight: 100kg (220lbs)

Doing another pin today, this time 3mg.

This week the scale didn't move as much, but overall i'm still in a good place with it. 4mg is probably doable, though i'd rather keep the pace gradual and consistent!

My training routine needs work, particularly the weeks when my kid is with me. During the other weeks things go fine, but getting my steps in and keeping up with home training is a struggle, so maybe some resistance bands are worth buying..

Week 5 stats:

Starting weight: 136kg (299lbs)

Current weight: 130.4kg (287lbs) - 0.7kg (1.5lbs)

Goal weight: 100kg (220lbs)

Great job. For me, the pounds didn't truly start dropping until 12 weeks had passed. By the time the holidays arrive, you'll be a completely different person!
