Do you go through more than one syringe daily?

When I was running several peptides each day, I was going through 3 or 4 syringes. These days it's just one. I pull up the first peptide, inject it, then before drawing the second one I take in air and push it back out a few times, cleaning the needle with an alcohol pad between those air pushes. I've kept this up for months and haven't run into any issues. Is anyone else doing a similar thing? Thanks again for everyone opinions.💉

Really? 😳

I nearly made a sarcastic comment — something along the lines of how I've reused one needle ever since my first tirzepatide dose 20 months ago, giving it a wipe between injections and keeping it tucked in the couch cushions — but I thought better of it, since that could come across poorly. 😂

All joking aside: after you've put that needle into yourself, it isn't sterile anymore, and neither is the syringe. Pulling in air and pushing it back out, or swabbing the needle down with alcohol, won't make it sterile again. Syringes cost so little that I really can't justify rolling those dice.

It's good that no infection has hit you and that things have gone fine up to this point, but honestly it sounds a lot like Russian roulette.

🤯

Doing this is really not a smart move. Your peptides can become contaminated — and they will — plus there's a chance you'll end up with an infection. Syringes don't cost much. If you go with pens and pen needles, it can work out even cheaper.

At 20 cents Canadian per pin, I genuinely don't get why anybody would use one more than once. On top of that, depending on which peptides you're dealing with, you actually run the risk of damaging or destroying them.

Out of everything in this whole peptide rodeo, they cost the least. On top of that, an insulin syringe loses its sharpness once it has been used. If you believe wiping the needle down with alcohol lowers the risk of contamination, you're fooling yourself. Single use is what they're made for. What you're doing is Russian roulette.

Back when 5ml syringes weren't part of my supplies yet, reconstitution took 3 separate 1ml syringes.

Reusing a needle by "cleaning" it is something I simply can't wrap my head around.

And stretching that out across months...

Russian roulette gives you 20 pulls without a bullet, or you could catch the bad one on your very first try.

Spend the extra 40cents on your own health..

It was as if I sensed a huge disruption in the force.... 😳 😳

After 3-4 vial punctures plus prior pins, how tough is it to push through your hide? 😱

I spent 20 years married to a T2D. She'd swap the needle on her insulin pen about once a day. 3-5 insulin shots per day. Among T2Ds that's fairly standard practice. After a lifetime of it, they get pretty jaded to the pin pokes. She never ended up with a contamination infection of any kind.

What could be an issue with your approach is cross contamination between peps that may not be compatible. At least that's my guess. Every time I go, I use a fresh pen tip. I pin something every night, but it's almost never more than 2. Usually only one pep per 24hrs

20 years without a single infection. That is quite a stretch. Did she swab the needle in between injections?

Bacteriostatic water (BAC water) is water for injection that is sterile and nonpyrogenic, and it has 0.9% benzyl alcohol in it to act as a preservative.

In a vial, how long does that 0.9% benzyl alcohol keep working as a preservative? 30 days? Possibly 60?

If I'm eating and something slips out of my hand, the "5 second rule" doesn't bother me at all, yet when I'm preparing food for other people, anything that hits the floor goes straight into the trash.

Harm reduction is what we stand for around here, and yes, that is clearly poor aseptic technique, but just like the example I gave before, the number of risks you choose to take is up to you — it's simply better not to promote them where everyone can see.

This is worth a read:

At the moment I'm at 15/week, and that number will climb once I start adding more items to my stack (which should happen shortly). Those 15 break down into a combination of luer slip/lock syringes plus fixed needle syringes, which means it works out to 15/week along with 21 hypodermic needles/week.

When I bought syringes, hypodermic needles, and fixed needle syringes, I sort of lost all restraint, and the result is that my stockpile is now shockingly large (multiple hundreds, roughly).

I'd really like to move over to pens, but I have to burn through some of this inventory first.

At the moment I do 5 pins in the morning (1 of those pins is a blend containing 3 peps, so I "avoid" 2 additional ones I would otherwise do) plus 2 pins at night (and again, 1 of them is that same blend). On top of that, there's 1 extra per week.

However, over the next few days or couple of weeks, I'll be adding some more on a daily basis.

2 pens daily plus a weekly one. That isn't a huge amount, but I'm still really happy I switched.

On top of being easier to work with, the pen needles cost very little.

With multiple peptides that I was trying a day it was adding up to 3 or 4 syringes. I now only use one. I load the the first peptide and then inject. Before loading the second peptide I draw air in and then plung it out a couple times, wiping the needle with an alcohol pad in-between plunging the air out. I have been doing this for months with out any problems. Does anyone else do something like this? Thanks again for everyone opinions.💉

Hey bc boy...my stack is 191aa, ghkcu, ss31, kpv, a bpc/cartalax combo, 5amino, motc, aod9604, epithalon, dsip, plus Nad and reta on every 3rd day....so on some days that's 12 pins.....most days it's 10...unless I forget to recon a vial......that's a lot of bloody syringes....I hear you dude....and I check my blood sugar roughly every 3 days...

What really opens your eyes is working out how much you're spending per year on this shit....that's a topic for another thread I'll post soon.....

Anyway...tomorrow brother I'm going to send you a pm on cb....

I get 31ga syringes from amz. After TX they run me around .27 cent ea approx...it adds up to alota bucks...and you should see the boxes of syringes I take to the recycle...

And there are a few more I want to add...I'll tell u, shit is addictive..

I think I need a 12 step group...or a 12 pin group..😀

The thread's title asks: how many syringes does everyone use in a day?

At the moment I use a single pen needle each week for reta, along with whatever I need for recon on a monthly basis.

Before long I'll be adding a second weekly pen needle for tirz, plus a daily one for GHK-cu and a daily one for 5AM.

So right now it isn't much, but it's about to increase.

Wouldn't the needles end up dull?

Mine adds up to 3 per week, and I never reuse them. Honestly, the moment a syringe has to pierce a stopper a second time, it's done — into the sharps bin it goes, and I take out a fresh one. A few of those stoppers feel tough and really mess up the syringe.

6 at minimum each day...on GLP day it's 7, though since adding sema that's now x3 per week....Before that it was even higher, until I eventually gave in and started loading 2-3 different peps into a single syringe for one pep....

What's giving me the most trouble at the moment is getting through that 'thickened vinyl like skin' on my belly that a lot of people here link to the daily GHK-Cu doses (I'm at like 4+ months now).

Even when I try to 'dart' the syringe in, there's resistance and the needle has to 'pop' through...kinda disturbing.... 😳
