Is that a fair reading though? They are reporting 140 cases so far, and per the CDC this does not qualify as an outbreak, only that numbers are climbing. Not ideal, yet it does not look like an emergency either.

Pretty sure the figure I came across for last year was around 2000 cases, so it reads more like bait than a real click.

Word is Maryland by itself has racked up close to that total since June of this year. Sounds like a real problem to me. Guess all I can do is cross my fingers it stays away.

Mexico is where I am, and it's showing up here as well. Truth is I ended up in a hospital bed 2 weeks back thanks to the sequale. The doc there told me the hospital was holding 40 patients right then, and that out of the 10 consults in his private practice that day, 8 came in with the same symptoms.

What a sad state of affairs these days,

A: nobody can stay focused on a 9th grade level paragraph for longer than 3 seconds

B: a disease outbreak traced to human fecal contamination of food gets filed under "more bait than click"

Where I stand: nobody ought to end up hospitalized or violently sick because human waste reached their fresh food. Even at a figure as low as 2000 per year, that's still too many for an industrialized nation with working sewers and a stock market sitting at all time highs.

yep. In a way Taco Bell has nothing to do with it — everyone drawing from the same food supply ends up with the same result.

Worth remembering that this is a disease the US government stopped tracking last year. Foods carrying human feces is not an accident - it is what the big companies and the government chose.

Only Michigan is at 4300 confirmed, and all we get is an investigation that never says where it started.
