Customs seized my package — what happens now?

A shipment of mine got held up at customs. The vendor refunded me without delay. What I want to know is whether that automatically means a letter from border patrol is coming, or whether it might have been lumped in with a bigger batch of shipments and I simply never hear another word about it?
 
There could be problems down the line with later packages. This kind of thing has been happening for years, so at this point it isn’t a big deal. Honestly, having it intercepted on the outgoing side is preferable to it being stopped on the incoming side.

With items such as peptides, a knock on the door is never going to happen unless the quantities are extremely large.
 
You might not receive any letter at all. Should one arrive, just ignore it. Also, shipments have been held up for days or even weeks before being released. Nothing about this process is consistent.
