I'm not going to mention any specific names, but I'm wondering whether other Canadian vendors also struggle to keep their products in stock. It feels like this happens a lot. A lot of China warehouses claim to have a Canadian warehouse, yet there's never anything in stock there.

I've definitely hit the same problems: a vendor claims to have a CAN warehouse, yet the price comes out higher than the China warehouse and you're still paying in USD — on top of the limited stock on hand.

I've also dealt with the 'bait and switch' where they tell you oh, that item is actually sold out in our Canadian warehouse, so you still end up ordering from the China warehouse.

More Canadian options would be nice.

When ordering to Canada, keep an eye on the GB — they do exist.

That's the direction I'm leaning toward now. I'm thinking it's time to start exploring the GBs a bit. I've come across plenty for the US, but Canada options still seem scarce.

At the bottom of the buy form, check the shipping options.

I'd like to know how often packages are being seized these days. Vendors tend not to give much of an answer on that front. As far as I can tell, most of them no longer offer any guarantee on shipments. That makes buying from China genuinely difficult.

I've had "more than one" shipment from China go missing thanks to those selfless guardians of Eli Lilly's bottom line.

You're correct that vendors aren't achieving a 100% success rate - I simply stick to the fairly limited inventory they keep 'in country'.

Pricing matches what US customers pay, and delivery is guaranteed...

For a modest charge, commercial freight forwarders located just over the US border will often act as an American address for your parcels. You'll still have to deal with the back-and-forth of crossing the border yourself, but it gets around the issue of suppliers who ship only to US addresses. Naturally, it also helps if the border isn't too far from where you live...

I know of roughly 6 GBs that offer re-ships to Canada. I have 13 kits on the way shortly, coming from 2 different ones. That said, there's one GB that has run into problems, and I'd recommend steering clear of it.

A bit of a detour from the Canadian warehouse topic, but I wanted to share this so Canadians (and anyone else) can avoid some hassle...

One of the vendors here — my go-to Chinese supplier — has an explicit policy of no reship and no refund for Canada, because the seizure rate is so high. I'm fairly sure the buyer never noticed this or bothered to ask, and placed the order regardless. When his package got seized, he naturally made sure everyone "knew" the vendor had scammed him. I sympathized with him, but he refused to accept that his money was lost because of a no reship/refund policy he had completely ignored.

So my advice: before you send payment, ask what the reship/refund policy is. Even if you've bought from them before, at least check whether it has changed.

...and if they switch your order from a local warehouse to shipping out of China, ask about the policy and think about getting a refund.
