Hey everyone,

I've dug through both the forum and STG, but I'm basically an old dog struggling with new tricks while I try to find my footing.

If someone could assist me in sorting all of this out:

  • Crypto:
    • Kraken vs Bitcoin vs Hyperliquid? Is there actually a meaningful difference, or is choosing any 1 of them good enough?
    • Do I really need to weigh DEX against CEX?
    • Would it be better to limit myself to just my iphone or mac desktop, or does that choice not matter much?
  • Wallets:
    • Trust Wallet vs Exodus vs Rabby? If I only go with 1, will that be okay?
      • I've come across worries about Exodus on Windows, but I don't fully grasp it yet and I'm on apple anyway - should that still worry me?
    • Is there a real difference between a hot wallet and a cold wallet?
    • Iphone vs desktop?
  • Should a VPN be part of my setup, or is a private browser sufficient (I use Brave)?
  • For vendor communication, is email the way to go, or are Telegram/Discord/Whatsapp acceptable?
  • Would getting a P.O. box for deliveries be a good idea?
  • Are any labs both cheaper than Jano and equally trustworthy?
Thanks to anyone who can help me out - I can handle the big stuff (vendor selection, dosing, etc), it's just these smaller details that set off my analysis-paralysis.

Bonus question: is going gray worth all the gray hairs I'm getting? 👵

I swear I gave it my all, yet I couldn't locate any concrete answers that put my mind at ease - still, I appreciate the response. I'll keep pushing forward

I handled the whole payment straight off my iphone. Grabbed btc through cash app, plugged in the wallet address the vendor gave me, and just like that I was on my way to getting my peps. No rocket science required 🙂

When it comes to talking with a vendor, if you're able to confirm it's an official channel, then go with whatever suits you best.

As for labs, I'm not sure, I simply checked the latest tests the vendor posted on their site, then verified them against Jano.

  • Crypto:
    • Locate a vendor to purchase from. Coinbase, Kraken, Binance, etc
    • Simply choose a vendor to purchase from
    • Either option works well
  • Wallets:
    • Plenty of solid options exist, simply choose 1
      • If you use an apple device, why concern yourself with Windows problems?
    • Whether hot or cold makes little difference given typical usage for this goal.
  • Do I need a VPN, or does a private browser suffice? It makes no difference
  • For vendor communication, is email preferable, or are Telegram/Discord/Whatsapp acceptable? All of them function, yet email is the most reliable and has the lowest scam risk.
  • Should a P.O. box be obtained for deliveries? No

For buying crypto, my go-to is Coinbase, and I have it linked so the money is pulled straight from PayPal. A few vendors won't take transfers coming directly from Coinbase (my guess is the government flags it as shady activity tied to people in China). If that happens to you, what I do is move the funds from Coinbase over to Exodus (you can sync Exodus across your iPhone and MacBook), and then send from Exodus directly to the vendor.

I'd also suggest using a VPN and sticking to email for communication. Way too many of those other messaging apps end up getting hacked. And unless you're going to hold at least some crypto at all times, dealing with a cold wallet probably isn't worth the hassle.

Once your first purchase is behind you, everything should start to click.

Trust wallet gets the job done quickly, simply, and securely. That said, buying coin through it means going via Banksa, which is an outside money app, and Banksa took 7% on the dollar from me. Among these outside services, Banksa comes in cheapest, with moonpay sitting at number 2. Honestly, though, that doesn't bother me. Chasing a lower price is an enormous hassle. The convenience alone justifies every penny. If you want a hand, just say so. I'm glad to assist. TRC-20 is a big favorite among the Chinese. That's Tron coin. It holds so steady that you won't spend the whole trade terrified of losing half your money. In fact, each time I sat on it for 10 minutes, I came out a few bucks ahead.

I'm with you on that. When I made my first buy, I went with BTC, figuring the amount would handle every fee. Then 15 minutes passed and I was set to transfer.... it had lost more than 20 bucks in value, and I nearly needed to purchase extra just to pay for the transaction.

I don't have definitive solutions for every one of your questions, but no matter which path you take, purchase just enough crypto to cover what you require at that moment, plus a small buffer for transfer fees. Avoid keeping significant sums of crypto sitting in a wallet. My process is to purchase crypto through coinbase, then transfer it to exodus once I'm ready to make a purchase.

Your OP worries me, since you wrote "Kraken vs Bitcoin", which is comparable to asking "Mobil vs Diesel".

Bitcoin is SOLD by Kraken. That kind of confusion tells me you ought to slow down and study more. Still, I'll do my best to address the remaining points.

Kraken gets my vote as an exchange, it's the one I like most. That said, it's only my view, and I'm sure somebody could argue against them.

Bitcoin also seems like your best bet, provided you figure out how to use a self-custody wallet and send payment to the vendor from that wallet.

DEX and CEX aren't rivals; their purposes differ. With a CEX you get a USD onramp, meaning you can purchase Bitcoin using your money. Funds sitting in your wallet have no value on a DEX. What a DEX is good for is swapping one crypto for another.

Which device you pick likely makes no difference. Some paranoid folks will insist on a linux bootable USB with TAILS. Peptides are of no interest to anyone.

Asking which wallet to use is like asking about someone's religious beliefs. Answers will vary and it stirs up a mess. In my view, Cake wallet is the best.

A cold wallet is not something you need. If you ever hold enough crypto to require one, God help you.

VPN and incognito mode aren't required, though I'd still use them. In my opinion the email provider you choose matters more. Personally I shill for Proton and ProtonVPN. Use them for email, use them for VPN service. They are not snitches.

"Iphone vs desktop" ??? Wtf? ANDROID.

Whether you use Whatsapp, Telegram, or email is largely irrelevant, as long as the person on the other end is the right one. Email is my preference.

A PO Box gets my personal recommendation. There are many reasons: it creates distance between your home and the package. Also, if your address is burned, you can switch it. Plus porch pirates, and this stuff is expensive. PO box is cheap. Use your real name. Use the box for other stuff like Amazon or whatever to generate traffic while it ages.

Sure, labs cheaper than Jano exist, but he has a kinda wierd monopoly in this space because refunds from vendors are only given based on his labs.

Good luck bro

When you say PO Box, if what you have in mind is a mail drop run by a 3rd party, one that comes with a street address plus a suite number, then my answer is a definite yes. But if a USPS PO Box is what you're referring to, then I'd have to respectfully disagree. That's still the government.

It might not sound logical at first, yet USPS comes out ahead since opening a package there requires a warrant. With private carriers, there are no such limits. Protection under the 4th Amendment applies only against the government.

I get where you're coming from. Every one of us has been there. At the start it can feel like a lot, but trust me, it smooths out over time. The replies here already contain plenty of solid answers, yet if you're still hitting a wall, send me a DM and I'll do what I can to assist.

Keeping things straightforward:

Payment method: You'll need a crypto wallet, and a mobile app is the simplest option. That's what you use to send funds to your vendor. Phantom is my top pick (it works great on Solana), Rabby and Base are solid too, Metamask is fine, and if you're out of options Exodus will do.

Which coin to use: Ask your vendor first, but ideally pick one that takes stablecoins such as USDC, USDT, or PYUSD. All three of these run on several networks, and I'd suggest going with a vendor who takes them on Solana because it's low-cost and quick.

How to actually obtain the coin: Open an account on an exchange — the major ones being Coinbase, Kraken, and Binance. Usually there's a 7 day hold, occasionally more, before you're able to withdraw, so plan around that. Purchase one of the three stablecoins along with roughly $10 worth of the network's native coin (for example, if a vendor is owed $500 and takes USDT on Solana, you'd get $500 USDT plus $10 of SOL (Solana)). After that transaction clears, move both the USDT and the SOL into the wallet you created, and be certain the network stays consistent the whole time (if your wallet is set up for Solana, then send on Solana). Doing a small test transaction first to verify everything is a smart move.

When the funds have arrived in your wallet, tell your vendor you're sending a test transaction, wait for them to confirm receipt, and then send the remaining amount.
