Hello!

2023 was the year I began trying to treat my crushing ADHD and my exacerbating peri symptoms. Two different SSRIs were prescribed (the first stimulant trial set off major anxiety), and once Vyvanse was added I was finally moved to Cymbalta in Jan '24. On that medication I unfortunately climbed from a fairly stable 118 lbs to nearly 150 lbs in just 6 weeks.

My body had typically sat between 115-122 ish lbs, so joint pain, flattened feet, snoring and so on all followed. Keto and other diets plus exercise were tried with little weight loss. An insurance based weight loss program was even attempted, but a script was denied due to my BMI. Cymbalta has been vital for my mental health, so I resigned myself to my new body.

Frustrated, in Jan I decided to give sema a try through Noom. The cost is astronomical, so only the 1st vial came my way. Starting made me SO nervous, so I put it off. Unfortunately, on Jan 31, I suffered an ischemic stroke. Luckily treatment came within an hour of the event, and despite constant fatigue and left sided weakness, the recovery has been full.

Research into GLPs and stroke followed, and I found that GLPs can be stroke preventative! So, with my neurologist and PCP overseeing, I began taking sema at .2 mg for 2 injections. That turned out to be a bit too much for me, so for the 3rd injection I only administered .1 mg for 2 weeks. .2 mg was where I titered back up to, and my 2nd dose has just gone in.

129 ish lbs is where I currently weigh in! A pilates reformer gym is something I recently joined after completing PT! My eating is healthier and life has started afresh. Eventually being able to stop taking a GLP and maintain my weight the way I used to is my hope!
