Came across a piece on CBL-514 (Article here) that claims it doesn't just shrink fat cells but wipes them out - in both subQ and visceral depots. Phase 3 trials are now underway. The reported effect on curbing weight and fat rebound after GLP-1 cessation looks very promising. Almost too promising to believe, honestly - but has anyone spotted it on the gray market yet? 😁 curious folks want to know.

Why don't you try it before I do?

That's the kind of thing I plan to stay FAR away from!

...I may be certifiably insane, but I'm not CRAZY!!

I'm inclined to feel the same way. I picture folks giving themselves injections, the fat cells in that spot vanishing, and then they eat — with the fat ending up redistributed to other regions, all out of proportion.

After all, lipo already exists as a way to physically take fat cells out, so...

I ran adipotide myself, with a lot of caution, and things turned out fine. Still, I wouldn't tell anyone else to go that route because of the kidney toxicity. It's basically inject and hope... follow my advice, not my example.

My kidneys are doing fine, by the way — they send their regards.

Isn't that the same thing lipo does? Your belly ends up flatter, sure, but then out of nowhere your neck, right wrist, and left outer flank get disfigured by fat deposits.

I remember hearing accounts where fresh fat deposits appeared in odd, unattractive spots.
That's interesting. I hadn't come across reports of that, though it does seem logical. Getting lipo isn't something I'd want for myself, and I wouldn't use meds to mimic its results either. Still, after I lose another 25-30kg, I might go for some cosmetic surgery to remove loose skin.

A few vendors do offer it, however:

1) no idea whether it's legit

2) the price is very high

It sounds a lot like Kybella (I believe that's the one) that many derm/medispas use for targeted fat treatment, such as a double chin. For a very limited case like that, I can see the use.

As I noted in the other thread about this: the study calls for 2 mg per square centimeter, which adds up to 600 mg every 3 weeks — and that means 300 separate, precisely placed injections in a single session.

Clearly, CBL-514 works only in a very localized way, hitting just a small number of cells at a time.

So anyone imagining they can pick up a 20 mg ampoule from a "peppy shop" for a lot of money and simply jab it in somewhere at random might as well hand that money to the forum instead.

From what I read in the study, each session involves 25 to 50 injections. That's still quite a lot, and I'd guess the odds of making a serious mistake and causing genuine harm to yourself would be far too high.

Those love handles are something I'd go to great lengths for, but that's a line I won't cross.

"precise, individual injections per session." Hmmm. . . did I already hit that square centimeter? I can't remember.
