46, male, 5'11", 178lbs currently.

Reta 10mg is what I'm running, and I'll stick with it another 3 months. Roughly 15lbs is what I'd like to turn into lean muscle mass. Gym 5x/week, and daily I'm getting in as much protein as I can. Still, there's a final target I have in mind, and I want to talk through various strategies.

For maintenance, dropping to a smaller Reta dose isn't something I want. And quitting abruptly, so to speak, isn't appealing either.

Going back to Tirz at 5mg/week for maintenance and just riding it on out til the wheels fall off is what I'm considering.

What do y'all suggest? For those who've moved into maintenance and kept a healthy weight, what has worked for y'all?

Once I drop about 5lbs, I'll be right there with you. This annoying belly fat isn't going anywhere unless I start working out. Plus, I've got dumbbells sitting around that I really ought to put to use.

Are you taking Tesa along with Ipa?

I've been maintaining since May 2025. I shared this somewhere before..... I skipped the washout phase and essentially quit Tirz abruptly.

I was on Tirz for almost exactly 1 year (I'm fairly sure May 30th 2025 was my final dose). For 5 months, my ceiling was 15mg. (about January 2025- May 2025.) Most of my weight came off between May 2024 and December 2024, during which I moved from 12.5 to 15. The final 20lbs to reach my target happened once I switched to 15mg Tirz. During my last 2 weeks on Tirz, I stepped down to 10mg and added .125 cagri. Then I cut out the Tirz entirely the following week, started 1mg Reta alongside .25 Cagri for maintenance (no washout, even though I thought about it). "

I quit Cagri in November 2025. Without meaning to, I shed about 15 more lbs while maintaining, which is the reason I halted the Reta/ Cagri combo. I'm still following the Reta 3mg 1x per week routine for maintenance. My weight is steady, and I'm able to enjoy eating.

I'd say that's a wise decision. Compared to Reta, Tirz is gentler on the body. What I noticed was that at 4.5mg of Tirz, my energy dipped a bit below usual, even though that dose seemed to hit the sweet spot for results. So I lowered it to 3.5mg and then included 1mg of Reta, injecting both once a week. My energy is now back to baseline and the outcome hasn't changed. My RHR stayed the same after this adjustment, which mattered a lot to me.

Nope.

I'm 3lbs away from my 110lbs target. But when I check the mirror, I might aim for 105 instead. Regardless, I'm thinking ahead to maintenance, and I never exceeded 5mg while on Tirz. I've been researching cagri as an appetite suppressant, so my plan is to taper down and stop Tirz, then find out whether CAG provides enough suppression for me to maintain. The idea of food noise coming back terrifies me.

Has anyone used CAG solely for food noise, without glps?

Saw a video mentioning that Reta's glucagon activity depletes glycogen in the kidneys. That's okay occasionally, but certain animal studies indicated that prolonged glycogen depletion might lead to kidney problems

Therefore, once I reach maintenance, I'm leaning toward switching to Tirz. I'd never come across cagri until this thread—it sounds intriguing

I've got both of them. This weekend I'm picking up a finger stick device so I can check my blood sugar, and I'm thinking about using both

Might be worth checking out.

So from what I'm reading in this thread... nobody actually quits reta/tiz entirely without adding some other compound in?

A few people do manage it.

Take me, for instance: I'm down more than 100 pounds. Right now I'm pausing glp1s because of a medical.procedure, and my appetite is screaming at me to eat EVERYTHING. Whether you can handle it comes down to willpower and personal strength. If you're able to pick the right foods and portions while off glp1s, then more power to you.

The thing is, a lot of folks on this site have..... complicated relationships with food and with choosing what to eat, and they rely on that crutch. I'm one of them. At this moment I'm clearly not making smart choices and I'm eating stuff I hadn't touched in almost a year.

I cracked up at that, me too.

I'm pretty much at my target as well. Once I get there, my plan is to put more effort into toning, maybe bump my calories up slightly, and I'll keep taking 3mg twice a week. Tesa/ipa is something I'm going to introduce soon for a cycle, just to see what it does for me. Come next year when my reta is gone, I'm actually considering a switch to tirz because its appetite suppression is stronger. Honestly, I don't know—I'll just figure it out as I go for a while.

If tirz gave you better results, my advice is to switch back to it.

What's stopping me?

Having just hit my target using reta+cagri, I find myself pondering the very same thing.

Tirz on its own took off the bulk of my pounds, so returning to that is an option—yet what reason is there to give up the glucagon agonist?

Right now my protocol is 7mg reta every 3.5 days alongside 1.7mg cagri every 7 days, so the simplest long-term approach seems to be reducing reta to 1x/week and stacking a second compound 3 days afterward, also 1x/week:

  1. Reta 7-8mg + tirz 7-8mg
  2. Reta 7-8mg + eloralintide 1mg (I have a kit on the way)
  3. Reta 7-8mg + cagri 1mg
  4. Zepbound (tirz auto-injector) 15mg 1x/week (I have a stash and keep buying it, because my insurance still covers it, and that's what I tell doctors)

Figuring out my own exit plan has been on my mind too. My goal is roughly 5lbs off, and my doses seem quite low next to what a lot of people here report. Every Monday I take 5mg of Triz, and every Thursday 1mg of Reta. I'm about to give Cagri a try and find out whether it can slot into what I'm planning. I'm self-aware enough to realize that stopping abruptly would go terribly for me.
