This is a uniquely awful situation. I'm really counting on someone in this community to get it. I remember the person I was and the way I felt, and I'm trying soooo incredibly hard to return to that. Can anyone reassure me that GLP-1s will make that achievable?

There are only about 5 pounds left for me to lose, yet every bit of it now sits in my stomach. That alone feels like a letdown. Still, I have to hold onto hope and refuse to quit, so that I can feel like my old self again.

SSRI's, yes.

Weight came on through several routes, and the SSRI's made it worse.

Hang in there.. it can happen, we'll make it through this. GLP's did wonders for me and my confidence, and i stayed on my meds the whole time (only lowered the dose since my BMI dropped and a high dose wasn't necessary anymore)

Wishing you the best of luck

I'm in the middle of a slow taper off Seroquel and an SSRI.

From my perspective, these are among the absolute worst medications to be taking.

For my own taper, I'm hoping selank will be helpful — though that's just my personal plan.

Topiramate is also part of my regimen; it can lead to 7-8% weight loss, but since the other meds promote weight gain, I suppose the effects cancel each other out.

I've been in that same place you're describing. It hurts, and it wears you down. These days I'm largely past it. One thing I can share... bringing inflammation down is part of the equation, and putting together ways to fight it will bring you some relief. Tirz, for me, has given a bit of help on that front.

Still, I want you to hear this: hope is real. There was a time I believed I'd never get out. I did make it back, and you can too🙂

I appreciate you opening up about that here..... I'd bet a lot more folks relate to this than you'd think. 🤗

When it comes to consistency, appetite, and keeping things steady, GLP-1s can definitely be a real asset. That said, those final few pounds, particularly when they sit mostly around the midsection, typically aren't a matter of willpower or simply needing more fat loss at that point.

Once you're at that stage, what usually matters most is body composition, stress, sleep, and hormones.

Feeling better again is absolutely possible, though it may not mirror going back to your “old self,” and honestly, that doesn't have to be a negative.

If the right elements are in place, strength training, sufficient protein, and avoiding chronic under eating, many people wind up feeling stronger, steadier, and more in charge than they were previously.

Don't give up hope, but try not to aim for going backwards either. What you're working toward is building something better from where you stand today.😊

Man, I know exactly what you mean. Paroxetine put roughly 60 pounds on me over a 6 month stretch. Even so, that medication was necessary for me, and I feel grateful that it's available and that I could get it. It did me a lot of good. But now that I'm doing better, the weight needs to come off.

My major depression, I believe, is what made me fat from the start. Meds for it were never something I stuck with, but you all already know how much of a disaster it is trying to get mental health support. Having dropped most of the weight now, I feel like I've improved somewhat. The laziness is still something I fight.
