Hi all, this looked like the right place to post, apologies if I'm wrong (first post!).

I have a list on ailments/symptoms as long as my arm. I'm 48/M in fairly bad shape, usual story of not looking after myself after a youth full of debauchery. Been type 2 for about 15 years but never really looked after it (barring the odd attempt).

Anyway, long story short, I'm trying to somewhat sort myself out (reta, TRT, actually going to the doc, bloods, diet, etc).

I've been taking a large stack of the usual supplements for about a year (magnesium, iron, vit D/B/K2, omega 3, and whatever else). I've never really felt any different but kept going regardless. My vit D is D3+K2, and the D is 4000iu.

Anyway, I've done a basic home test and it's saying I'm vitamin D deficient, like on the floor. Admittedly I don't get much sun etc, but thought the tablet would sort me out, but possibly not.....

I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow and see if they can give me some 'proper' tests.

Has any of you been deficient? How did it affect you if so, and how was it treated? More to the point, what changed after you were treated?

Thanks all, just trying to figure out which bits of my situation might be somewhat explained by it (assuming it to be true!).

I was diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency. They started me on a high dose of D3 that was taken weekly for a few months to get me back on track. It's was just a couple bucks. Now I take a daily multivitamin, like Centrum for men, and supplement a D3 gel cap twice a week. This was enough to raise my levels to normal range.

Note: The high potency D3 they gave me is taken weekly. I took it daily for a week, because I didn't read the directions (!) and it screwed me up good. It was like having Alzheimer's for a week. Don't do that.

I also have low vitamin D levels. My doctor prescribed me one 50,000 IU ampoule per month. It seems to help a little in keeping my levels above the minimum, but not enough to get them above 50. I tried 100,000 for two months, but my stomach can’t handle it.

Adding K2 is a good idea, but not all doctors do that.

There's also a need for a good dose of vitamin C. I don't know why, but apparently it helps with the absorption of vitamin D.

I too have been diagnosed with low vitamin D. Been on a high weekly dose like Chili described for a while. I wish I could say what the difference was and how I feel differently, but I can't really say I have felt a difference.

Thanks mate.

So it's like a boost to get your levels up, then they should stay up if you just maintain, rather than none stop treatment?

Appreciate it.

Thanks all, somebody else I spoke to mentioned a 50,000iu dose.

By the sound of it, once my levels are back up (if they ARE down), I'll be able to maintain it with my normal dose?

Appreciate your time 😉
