Alright, im ready to move past the Niimbot and create Professional labels.

Just like the title says I am ready to get an inkjet printer and make some awesome color labels up. the Niimbots have been great to me, but i want a more professional look.

If anyone has any links, suggestions, experience on quality inkjet printers, which labels i should buy and any other useful info, id appreciate it.

I create on canva regularly and also skilled with using AI. Think I just need a printer and label sheets?
 
Any reason for going for a inkjet and not a colour laserjet?

Just thinking about water resistant fact. And overal printing costs

There is also Brother VC-500w that's a full colour thermal printer. But I guess labels wil cost a pretty penny

If I hadn't been able to revive my old POS HP I'd get either a tank type inkjet or a color laser printer.

The tank types caught my interest with the idea of never buying another ink cartridge again though I don't know what the maintenance on the heads looks like and wonder if they are locked down to the manufacturer's brand in some way. If it's an HP there's a catch.

Labels you might want to check out OnlineLabels, they have a vial sized Weatherproof Gloss Inkjet label that's interesting as well as the Maestro design app for people like me who know nothing about design.

I thought the same thing, and I have a few packs of sheets in my AliX cart 🙂

What’s holding me back (meaning I need to calm down a bit) is the new EU tax that doubles the cart total (there’s even VAT on the tax. Damn bureaucrats!).

I've had HP inkjet printers since '92. But now I'm fed up with their locked-in cartridges and subscription.

I’m switching to a Canon Pixma that costs 50 bucks and takes compatible cartridges (better for the photos). I don’t need to print much in color anymore, except for scientific articles with nice visuals of protein structures (everyone has his own kind of porn...), some code and the price lists from my favorite peptide saleswoman (Hi dear!).

For bw printing and business volumes, I have a Brother laser printer that’s very economical on toner. I’ve picked up some holographic or golden sheets that work with laser printers...

The annoying thing about sheets is when we only need one or want to use the rest of a sheet we've already started. It did well with Inkscape. I don't find Canva's SVG export very practical, but it works.

Tell me, weren't you the one who won an M3?

As far as I know permanent ink for printers exists also. That will be much better if you can find it for your printer, I think. Long time ago, I have used it with continuous ink tank for Canon Printer to make CD/DVD labels.

because I didn't realize i needed a LaserJet printer instead of an inkjet, 😅 thats why im making this thread!

yes I did get an M3 from Riki and I love it to death! but with the way... things are going I need more professional labels in my life and unfortunately the 300 DPI isnt cutting it for me. I want a pharmacy grade label and if it costs me it costs me.
 
I have just seen Etsy sites that print labels and I will probs do that. Unless of course @Gr33dyOctopus starts selling labels and I earn DM status. Hahahah

again I didn't realize i needed a lazerjet!! hahaha and the Brother VC-500w is at the top of my research list right now

I've seen some of that too, but aren't they usually a dollar a label or something? plus I want a BUD date on each label as well! haha good morning! 🐯

ive seen them for less, but yeah, they aren't cheap. I just need to label mine somewhat officially bc the adult children will start asking LOTS of questions if my research science in the fridge looks like a shade of gray. hahahahahaha.

I never ever imagined I'd be in the naughty chair more times than my kids. They DEF carry the Good girl and boy gene that was on the XY DNA strand. The XX strand has a higher risk tolerance!

Wel is just suggested that one at it too of the line thermal colour label printer.

Yeah, dpi wise it's not that good compared to inkjet/laser printer
 
Just food for thought. I used to work at Staples back in the day and we printed labels for people all the time. All you gotta do is design them on a standard template ( they had a ton of Avery ) and email them the file and they can print them on their various laser jet labels or you can bring in your own labels ( or buy a pack off the shelf) as long as they are laser jet. I thought about getting a printer too but wouldn’t use it for anything else.
 
The best one I've had at 600 dpi was a Xerox Phaser with solid ink. It was very flashy. It's too bad they stopped making that stuff.

Canon's GX series offers high-resolution, professional-quality printing. It's a regret that we don't print as much at the office as we used to; otherwise, I would have gone with that.

Brother also has some good color laser printers, but the toner cartridges cost an arm.

Brother's color inkjet printers are pretty good. We have an MFC-something, but I haven't tried printing photos or labels. It's supposed to print at 1200 dpi. It's pretty heavy, though.

I checked with our usual printing companies (FR). Rolls of holographic labels cost between €120 and €150 for 200 to 1,000 labels.
