About to Start Reta — What Did Your Dosing Look Like?

A 2mg starting dose turned out to be way too much in my case. Within 10 hours I had awful reflux, terrible indigestion, and my appetite was completely wiped out. I dropped back to 1mg each week and things have gone really smoothly for 2 mo.s. In fact, this week I bumped it up to 1.5mg.

My first run was gradual: started around .5mg, worked up to 2mg across the first 4 weeks, later got to 6mg, then dropped back to 4mg and held there for 6 or 7 months.

This second run, I've moved from 2-4mg within my first 2 weeks.

For your first time, go slow, figure out where your body responds, and don't feel like you have to keep increasing. Slow and steady wins the race

Make protein intake and exercise a priority

My wife's first dose was .5, and at this point she's at 3. No way was she letting me convince her to jump in at 2. Lol

Yep, after digging around online I settled on 2mg for my first shot. Immediate regret. Within a few hours I felt like I was breathing fire, sulfur burps and all — it was awful, lol. Going forward I'll titrate up gradually, since I'm after the glucagon effects and the liver reset.

Lol, going down the internet rabbit hole. Probably from a bunch of doctors, researchers and others. Not on this forum. My own run went 2-4-6-8-9-10 and then 12mg, holding each step for 4 to 6 weeks.

My starting dose was 0.5 mg, and each week I went up by 0.25 mg. Sure, that's "low and slow," but my goal was to keep side effects to a minimum (or avoid them altogether). Even so, the first few weeks brought mild nausea, a feeling of gastric fullness, higher HR, constipation, and more thirst. These days I'm on 2 mg per week, which feels like more than enough in my case — though it really does vary from person to person. That said, I suspect that jumping straight to the clinical dose of 2 mg would have hit me hard with side effects.

When people first start, tough side effects are really par for the course. Going up slowly makes sense to me.

Who wants to spend days or a week trapped at home dealing with diarrhea that won't let up, or constipation that actually hurts?
