Hey everyone, I'm pretty new here and also new to Reta. I spent around 6 months on Mj last year, so GLP'S aren't unfamiliar to me. I also underwent a mini gastric bypass back in 2023 (it went well, no complications, and I dropped roughly 8 stobe at the start).

My Reta journey began 5 weeks ago. R10, 2ml Bac, and 2mg doses. Everything's been going well, hardly any side effects, food noise is gone, and I'm definitely feeling more full with less desire for food.

Last Saturday was my 5th and final dose. Same vial, 2mg, shot into the right love handle. Not sure if it's just a coincidence, but I feel like I've been hit by a truck! Saturday night was terrible, diarrhea, horrible reflux (never had that before), and nausea. Sunday I took it easy and slowly began to feel better. I've been cautious since then, avoiding fatty foods and big meals. I was fine but today I'm feeling pretty rough again, just tired, lethargic, and yuk. My appetite is completely gone and there's no room for food - 2 mouthfuls and I'm finished!

A few other things that might or might not be playing a part:

I was in india last week - ate and drank without any problems and enjoyed plenty. No issues at all. Drank good amounts including electrolytes.

I'm dealing with low iron, currently under a doctor's review, lots of tests done and no cause found. They're attributing it to post bypass malabsorptrion and supposedly referring me for an iron infusion.

Saturday morning I pinned my last dose from the first vial. I'll admit I was rubbish and hardly drank that day. I also probably overdid it given I only got back to the UK Fri night, jetlag, lack of sleep, etc.

I think tbats it for now - anyone have any thoughts? I feel like the full portion of Reta was in this last dose and has hit me at 100 miles an hour - but doubt its truly that as I reconstituted beautifully with no concerns.

Was tempted to titrate up, but will hold off for now, even if I do pin at the weekend.

Assuming it's the same vial and nothing went wrong previously, I'd point the finger at the Indian adventure...not trying to be offensive, but it's regarded as the dirtiest place on earth, so you might even pick something up from the air...

Point taken 🙂

By week 5, the amount of medication accumulated in your system has plateaued — that is, it has hit its peak. For the time being, it makes sense to remain on this dose and monitor whether the side effects change.

Vitamin C is needed for your body to take in iron properly, so it’s worth taking. A shortage of vitamin C on its own might be enough to account for why you feel so tired.

Since you recently came back from India, it’s possible you picked up an infection while you were there — that kind of thing happens fairly often.

You switched up how you eat and your daily schedule for 7 days, got back from a lengthy overseas flight, were dealing with jet lag, didn't get enough rest, and didn't hydrate properly.

Perhaps — only perhaps — Reta isn't the only thing at play here 🧐

That's a great way to look at it! Sometimes it really helps to hear another person put it into words!! 🤣

I'm already on vitamin C, and I drink orange juice alongside my iron so it absorbs better. Honestly, I'm just waiting on the doctors to speed things up and do something to get my levels back where they should be!

Indeed, it accumulates within your body.

Appreciate it, that chart helps a lot - turns out yesterday was my peak, and after what BBA1969 explained, it makes total sense why i'm feeling like as a55 really!

Sarcasm aside, 2mg really can be brutal. Both my wife and I sit at 8mg with none of that. Sunday we bump to 9mg.

Not experiencing the side effects that a lot of others get means you've had good fortune.

My own increments never exceed 0.5mg per step.

As far as I can figure, the pattern went 2-4-5 for a pair of injections, then 6mg across 6 pokes, 7 for 2 shots, and now 8 for 5. 9mg comes next week, after which I'll decide. I'm 5lbs away from my target, so I'll hop on the scale. My wife is moving to 10mg and probably 12mg after that. Her amount to lose is much bigger. I've shed 50 lbs and want 55 pounds total. Early on there was some heartburn, but now it's seldom. Clearly appetite is gone and sleep is an issue for me. Not that I can't sleep at all, I just wake and can't drift back. My wife sleeps fine.

With the travel that happened recently, traveller's diarrhoea looks like the strongest candidate. Should a fever appear, or should there be blood in the poo, then get medical advice. If neither is present, then fluids / oral rehydration solution.

Reta being the cause cannot be ruled out entirely, since blood levels do climb gradually across 4 weeks when the dose stays the same, but when the travel and the location are taken into account, a GI infection is far more probable.
