5-Amino-1MQ kit color differences: is this within normal range?

Hey all! Just got a kit in and the vials don't all match in color. A few are pale beige, while others are clearly darker with an orange tone.

From what I've come across, lyophilized peptides and similar compounds can look different from vial to vial because of things like how they were made, moisture levels, oxidation, or variation in the freeze-drying step, even within one batch.

Anyone here who has used or tested 5-Amino-1MQ:

  • Would you say this level of color spread is typical?
  • Has anyone else gotten kits that looked like this?
  • When tested, did potency come back fine or were there any out-of-spec results?

Nothing else seems off, but the shade difference stood out to me.

Appreciate any input!
 
My single 5a1 kit has uniform appearance throughout. Whether yours is problematic I can't say, though it would make me uneasy. Reaching out to the seller might be worthwhile? Hopefully others will share their input; I'm following along here.
 
Moisture content that differs from vial to vial might explain it.

Another possibility is a bromide/iodide mixture, but that would be less probable since it implies a serious production mistake—unless your reseller is not among those on the forum's list with a team larger than 3 people.

As a small molecule, it is fairly sturdy. In that respect, the danger is low.

5-Amino-1-methylquinolinium belongs to the quaternary ammonium class, has antibacterial activity, and resembles the kind present in Lysol or used in fish farming ponds. Infection is not a concern.

Mix it with sterile water for injection, and if the result is a pleasant, transparent orange, then it is fine. Effects appear within under 1 hour, so you will find out fast. It's a jolly good dope 🙂
 
With just 2 kits of 5A1MQ (50mg vials) in my experience, both appeared the same as powder and after mixing. As another member said, you should definitely reach out to the vendor.
 
Mine arrived from PTB as well, and I'm worried about the same thing. How did you handle it in the end? Getting replies from Cathy at PTB has been pretty spotty.
