43M in CA, 9 Weeks on Reta, No Loss or Appetite Change — Seeking Insight

From what I've come across, tirz seems to blunt appetite far more than reta does. Since I haven't used reta myself, I can't speak to that from experience—but with tirz, my hunger is almost nonexistent. Eating only happens because I make a point of it; otherwise it would slip my mind entirely.

That matches what I’ve come across too.

If we take it at face value, one option is picking up another bottle or kit so you can run a test alongside your upcoming dose. It sounds like the answer is simply to continue titrating and have faith in the process. Prior GLP use likely raised your tolerance. A few folks would frame that as an advantage, since it lets you reach stronger reta doses sooner; according to them, the glucagon piece only starts working somewhere around 6-8mg.

My suggestion is to break your weekly dose into 2 injections. That way appetite suppression gets noticeably better, and there is no downside to doing so, even if certain people object for reasons of their own.

Naturally, if the scale isn't moving, you're taking in more calories than you're burning. I'm sure you know this though. If you aren't counting, you might want to calculate your estimated TDEE and start. Some people like to use an app to track things, others write it down. I didn't even write it down for the first month, just added everything up in my head as I went along and tried to keep the number low every day.
Appreciate it. That’s useful. I’m leaning toward dividing my doses the way you described. And I just moved up to 6mg, and at last I believe I’m noticing a bit of fullness.
Whenever you want.

Each time I convince a retatruchad to divide their dose, an angel earns its wings.

You're also free to titrate 2mg monthly if that suits you. At month 2, I'm taking 4.66mg weekly (2mg every 3days) and it's going well so far. This approach appeared in one of the studies and showed improved weight loss.

Seems like 8mg is going to be your ideal dose. Best of luck!
Appreciate it!

Hi all! I'm a 43-year-old guy living in CA, and I began exploring peptides roughly 9 weeks back. At 5'10" and 280 lbs right now, I'm honestly feeling quite stalled.

Earlier on, GLP-1s worked well for me — Sema first, then Tirz, both obtained via prescriptions and insurance. I dropped to 258 lbs and felt really good about where things were heading… then my insurance started fighting every refill and ultimately imposed a lifetime coverage cap. That basically yanked the foundation out from under me. Having originally begun at 295 lbs and now sitting back at 280, the frustration has been real.

After a great deal of research, I chose to try Reta. I'm 9 weeks in now, having titrated from 1mg up to 6mg, with my most recent pin this past Wednesday. During that titration, I also added MOTS-c and GHK-Cu.

What's puzzling me is that I've lost 0 pounds so far and frankly haven't felt any appetite suppression whatsoever. Given that I previously responded well to both Sema and Tirz, I'm trying to work out what I might be doing wrong or what could explain the difference this time.

So, while endlessly hunting for more knowledge, I came across this group and hope to learn from the experience and insight here. Looking forward to getting to know everyone, and I truly appreciate any advice, guidance, or knowledge you're willing to share.

Thanks everyone!

Hey there! I haven't been on this forum long, but I've got plenty of experience with glp1s. Switching from tirz to reta won't give you the same level of appetite suppression. You might want to consider stacking cagri with reta. The one downside to watch out for is fatigue — that's the only reason I haven't tried adding it myself.

I appreciate the info. Since tiredness could be a problem, I'll probably skip it. My energy is already low because of sleep apnea, and I don't always use my CPAP consistently...😕

Sleep apnea isn't something I deal with, but narcolepsy is part of my picture. I'm working dsip into what I already do. From what I've read, it may support getting into deeper, more restorative stages of sleep! Could be something to check out! My order hasn't arrived yet, and once I'm actually able to post here, I'll share updates lol.

Could you share your experience with DSIP once you try it? For 2 years I've had poor sleep, and "AOR Ortho Sleep" is the only option that has helped me so far.

Searching online gave me a range of opinions.

A few people reported excellent results, while others saw no benefit.

I suppose that's true of most things; everyone responds in their own way.

Even so, I'm still thinking about...

Welcome Michael — to me, the thing that jumps out is that at 6mg you're getting zero appetite suppression. Since Sema and Tirz both worked for you before, it's clear you aren't someone who simply doesn't respond to these drugs. A lot gets eliminated by that.

The main suspect in my mind would be how potent your product actually is. Titrating for 6 weeks up to 6mg while feeling no appetite suppression and seeing no weight movement isn't what legitimate Reta at that dose usually does. Results like that tend to show up when the product itself has a problem — maybe it degraded because of how it was stored, maybe something went wrong during reconstitution, or maybe purity at the source is the issue.

Some questions to look into: what's your storage method after reconstitution, what volume of BAC water do you use, and when did you last mix it. Peptides break down from heat and light quicker than a lot of folks expect, and that by itself can wipe out efficacy.

Hope you find your answers here, this community has seen everything.

I'm not sure whether this has come up from anyone else, but have you experimented with switching your injection site? Stomach versus thigh? When I hit a plateau on Tirz, that made a difference for me.

My kit showed up 1 day ahead of schedule, so last night I gave 100mcg a try. I slept incredibly deeply! Normally I can't stay asleep beyond 4-5 hours and wake up repeatedly. This time I got 7 hours without interruption, which is huge for me. I've been awake for roughly 4 hours now. There's still some tiredness, but it's far easier to handle than what I'm used to. That said, it's clearly too soon to draw any conclusions.

My plan is to run it for 2 weeks at 3x per week, and I'll report back afterward. @Prodigy217 @CharlieBrown

That's great! I appreciate you sharing your experience. Hopefully it keeps working for you.

And getting only 4-5 hours of sleep per night seems to be a common issue for many of us, unfortunately.

Hey everyone! 43-year-old male here in CA, just starting my peptide journey about 9 weeks ago. I’m 5’10” and currently 280 lbs, and honestly feeling pretty stuck at the moment.

I’ve had success with GLP-1s in the past, first with Sema, then Tirz, through prescriptions and insurance. I got down to 258 lbs and was feeling great about the progress… until my insurance company turned every refill into a battle and eventually slapped a lifetime cap on coverage. That pretty much pulled the rug out from under me. Starting from 295 lbs originally and now finding myself back at 280 has definitely been frustrating.

After doing a lot of research, I decided to give Reta a try. I’m now 9 weeks in and have titrated from 1mg up to 6mg, with my latest pin this past Wednesday. Along the way, I also introduced MOTS-c and GHK-Cu during the titration process.

What has me confused is that I’ve lost 0 pounds so far and honestly haven’t experienced any appetite suppression at all. Since I responded well to both Sema and Tirz previously, I’m trying to figure out what I might be doing wrong or what could be causing the difference this time around.

So, in my endless search for more knowledge, I found this group and I’m hoping to learn from the experience and insight here. Looking forward to getting to know everyone and truly appreciate any advice, guidance, or knowledge you’re willing to share.

Thanks everyone!

welcome! I have a friend that struggled to lose weight with Reta. I eventually talked her into to adding the minimum dose of cagri and that has been a game changer for her.

Alright, I'll check with my friend Google. lol
Searching online gave me a range of opinions.

A few people reported excellent results, while others saw no benefit.

I suppose that's true of most things; everyone responds in their own way.

Even so, I'm still thinking about...

Thanks! I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the same!

Hello, does a study actually exist that examined split dosing? Could you tell me what that study is called?

In your last response, you mentioned: "One of the studies did this and saw better results." I'm not sure what you meant by that. Could you clarify which study did what?

I'm not sure what you're referring to, but the study I probably meant was the one where people began at 4mg of reta and increased by 2mg each month, rather than beginning at 2mg and going up by 1mg each month.

Since then, though, I've come to see that every bit of the official guidance was garbage, at least in my case.

What worked best for me was beginning at 2mg, splitting the dose, then moving up fast to the highest dose I could tolerate, which for me was 2mg every 3 days, or 4.66mg per week.

There are people who can simply eat through the drug and keep going to 6mg, 8mg and beyond. I just can't.

Using that 4.66mg per week, I dropped ~40lbs, and after that I had to lower my dose. These days I'm on 1.33mg per week, and eating at maintainence is very difficult.

I think it's a bit fucked up that they push the idea that you have to keep titrating up and to only use it once weekly when twice weekly is so much more effective. Do what feels right for you.

Yes — split-dosing is how I dropped 23 kg on Tirzepatide. The bulk of that came at 5 mg weekly: 3 on Wednesday, 2 on Sunday. After that it stalled out, and bumping to 10 per week (5.5 Wednesdays, 4.5 Sundays) didn't help. So that's why I made the switch. I'm still on 2 per week, taken once weekly. Starting tomorrow I'll move to 2 on Wednesdays and 1 on Sundays
