Hey everyone!
I may be a new face on GLP1Chat, but GLP1’s themselves are nothing new to me.
I’m a 20 year old female who has struggled with extra weight for basically as long as I can remember. I always figured it came from how much I ate and my snacking, since I never touched soda and didn’t eat tons of junk. Honestly, even I was surprised by this, but I’ve never once finished a whole bag of chips. I believe my parents’ own weight struggles shaped my habits, and since they never signed me up for sports, I didn’t get much physical activity growing up.
As a kid I was diagnosed with multiple anxiety disorders and an autoimmune disease (which, thankfully, is in remission right now), and that led me to stress eat a LOT. Later on I was diagnosed with endometriosis and had it removed through surgery! I’m beyond grateful to my doctors.
Sadly, around 3 years ago my BMI was very high. My highest was 250 and I’m 5’9. My doctor gave me a wegovy prescription, but my insurance wouldn’t pay for it even though I was prediabetic and had high triglycerides. So I began researching and used compounded sema for a few months, and I got down to 170! My prediabetes reversed and my labs look great. I stayed at the lowest dose and still lost all that weight, and I felt so much better.
After that I took a few months off and got back up to 200, so I restarted on tirz. Once I found out my coworker was getting reta for less than what I paid for my tirz, I figured I’d give it a shot. I’m on the lowest dose from the trials now and I feel great! I’m at 190 at the moment and still losing.
What I really needed, I think, was a push. Something to quiet the food noise and show me visible results. For me, seeing results kept me motivated. I’ve lost weight before through diet and exercise alone, but I never saw it in my body and it took so long that I lost motivation. I never got why, because I can commit to long term things—I mean, I’m doing my undergrad in biomed with a 4.0, so I definitely have the ability, I just think not seeing results is what got me. With my exams, I know my work is paying off because I could see it in my grades. With my weight loss, I didn’t feel the same.
Anyway, long intro, but that’s all I gotta say about me! I mostly joined to do some snooping and read around, I like doing research and interacting more than I like posting. I’m glad to be here tho!
