This thread is genuinely fascinating, and I'm happy I stumbled on it. At 28 I was diagnosed with ADHD, but before that came 8 years of a wrong bipolar diagnosis and a pile of psych meds that accomplished nothing beyond creating new problems and packing on pounds — at a time when my body had been healthy. Now, 4 years later, it's clear I'm definitely ADHD, and based on family anecdotes I've had it since toddlerhood. Once I finally got the correct diagnosis, my mom admitted to me that she has inattentive ADHD, yet she doesn't buy into diagnosing or medicating it. Thanks, Ma. That's 8 years of my life wasted while doctors hurled the kitchen sink at me.
Anyway, what strikes me as curious here is that teso appears to carry SNRI properties. Years back I gave welbutrin a shot, after sertraline left me unhappy due to sexual numbing. Welbutrin sent me off the rails — it looked like mania. I quit it after roughly 2 weeks, but that response kept the bogus bipolar label alive for a couple more years, since we kept citing it as 'that one time I definitely had a manic episode'. In reality it was nothing more than an uncommon reaction to welbutrin. Bipolar I am not, and never have been. What I actually had was bad depression plus severe, uncontrolled and unacknowledged ADHD symptoms, my whole life long.
So, after reading this I'm intrigued by teso, but wary of a repeat of the welbutrin-type reaction. The adderal xr I'm currently on doesn't thrill me, and I only take it 1x a week. The remaining 6 days I'm basically a slug of a human, which isn't ideal.
