How soon did effects show up for you?

I've just done my first 1mg shot of reta. This is the first peptide — actually the first anything — I've ever injected. I'm wondering whether I should anticipate feeling anything during this week, and I'd also like to hear how things went for others at the start? I know it takes roughly 4 weeks before it really accumulates in your system.

Reactions vary a lot from person to person, but my own start was 1 mg of reta, and the very next day I could already tell it was doing something. Within that first week, food stopped gripping the reward center in my brain altogether. Over the past 6 month I've titrated up VERY gradually, and I'm sitting at 7 mg right now. Going above 9 is something I never intend to do.

A gentleman I work with climbed all the way to 12mg. He did drop weight, yet his food noise was never truly touched. Biology is extremely individual.

It varies. Many factors play a role. The biggest one is your own body. In my case, the first injection I ever did was 2mg of reta, and I could feel it inside 1 hour. Some people get bad constipation from 2mg, while others end up with serious shits. With any luck, what you get is just a little appetite suppression. And nothing beyond that.

I've been on 1 mg for three weeks now (I also do 4 mg of Tirz on Mondays.. Reta goes Friday AM). Nothing major in terms of side effects, though I do believe Saturday leaves me feeling more tired. That being said, both of the past two Saturdays I spent the whole day outside at tailgates in HEAT, so that might be the reason, but it's a TIRED kind of tired.

In under 24 hours, my appetite was completely wiped out, along with terrible indigestion. I began at 2mg, which turned out to be too much, so I dropped to 1mg after that and had no bad effects at all.

I eased in by dosing .25 mg every third day. Within under 12 hours I could feel something. Ended up dropping 20 lbs, and I never went above 1mg every third day. No side effects at all, except my rhr went up 8 bpm.

Whether you get the helpful stuff (appetite going down) or the less welcome stuff (feeling queasy) varies a lot from person to person, so the only real way to learn what a particular dose does in your body is to test it. At 1mg, then, I'd put it at a 50/50 chance that you notice anything at all, whether good or bad. My own situation was different: I'd already switched over to 15mg of tirzepatide before I touched reta, and I was stacking the reta on top of that, so my experience won't tell you much. What I do remember is that when I first began ozempic, the earliest thing I noticed was feeling full after eating roughly half my usual amount, which was great.

You already get that blood levels keep climbing for 4 weeks after you start or raise a dose, and not getting that is one of the biggest causes of problems. Since you're beginning under the standard starting dose of 2mg, I don't see much risk in moving up to 2mg if a week or two at 1mg gives you zero effects, but only if there are no effects at all. Whatever side effects show up at a given dose will get worse when you increase the dose. My totally unscientific observation from this forum is skinnier people starting reta often have more effects from lower doses.

I also began at 1mg. Roughly 3 hours in, I got that sensation of being full even though I hadn't eaten anything. My mom's first dose was different — at 1mg she felt nothing whatsoever. Once she moved up to 2mg, she picked up on it the following day.

I began at 0.5mg, taken in the evening, and by the following day my food cravings were gone. They returned around day 5-6, so I moved to pinning every 6 days. Once 3 weeks had passed I bumped up to 1mg, and I plan to remain at that level for as long as it keeps working. So far there have been no side effects, and over 5 weeks I've dropped 7.5kg.

For me it kicked in after just a few hours. I had taken 2.5mg of tirz, and I ended up with really bad heartburn along with intense nausea. Honestly, I was shocked by just how powerful the effects turned out to be.

Yesterday morning I did my very first dose, 1mg. Roughly 3 hours later, mild nausea started coming in waves that I could handle, and it lasted the rest of the day. Food didn't really appeal to me and I wasn't truly hungry.

Today has been fine so far. My stomach is only a little unsettled, I'm still without hunger (normally I wake up ravenous), and I have a slight headache, though that's most likely from getting through only about a quarter of the caffeine I normally have.

What was the timeframe for dropping those 20lbs?

About 2 hours after my first pin at 1mg, I began to feel it, and for the next two days I had no appetite. Once a bit of hunger returned, I found that I got full much more quickly.

I eased into it the same way a lot of people here did, beginning with 0.5 mg of reta in week one. Right away my appetite dropped — I was satisfied after less food, I stopped wanting sweets or salty snacks, and to my surprise I no longer felt like having my usual beer at night. As time went on I moved up to 2.25 mg taken twice weekly, and stayed at that level for roughly 5 months, during which I dropped around 40+ lbs. This last month, however, my hunger has come back stronger and I've had some mild cravings; so far I've managed to hold them off, and I've now swapped one of my two weekly reta injections for a low dose of tirzepatite (1mg), which I plan to titrate upward in the hope that it settles the food noise again. Raising the reta is something I'm quite hesitant about, so I'm counting on the tirz to do the job. I also figure that steering clear of junk food and beer has turned into a habit by now, and that I'll be able to keep it up.

Since you're new to peptides, one more thing worth knowing: regular resistance training and solid sleep habits really do need to be part of your routine too (assuming they aren't already). Reta will help you drop pounds — but a meaningful share of that will be muscle, which is why building muscle matters.

I think that's wrong.

When you lose weight on GLP1 drugs, the muscle mass you lose isn't out of proportion.

Back when I began, I recall pinning 1mg in the morning. Somewhere around +4-6 after the injection, my appetite started to drop off. By +12 hrs, a touch of nausea had set in. I woke at dawn with my heart pounding, and my resting heart rate stayed raised through the remainder of the day.

Over the following 2 days I was tired, slightly nauseous, and my RHR ran high. By day 5 after pinning, the sides eased off gradually, some food noise crept back, and my energy was decent as well. Day 6 I felt fine, nothing at all really, except I wanted sweets. That was a first-week-only thing.

Week two played out much the same, though I moved my dose up to 2mg. In week three the sides faded and I got back into working out. It felt good.

The whole pattern showed up again when I titrated to 3mg in week 5.

My starting dose was 0.5 mg, and roughly 60 minutes later I noticed I cared less about eating. Each week I moved up by .25 mg. Once I reached 1 mg, I got a terrible bout of constipation. Figuring out a routine that gave me relief took around 2 weeks. What works in my case is 0.5 tsp of miralax on alternate days, plus fiber when I don't feel too full. After 2 months I got to 2 mg and I've chosen to remain at that dose until it stops working, assuming that ever happens. Whether I qualify as a "hyperresponder" I can't say, since I don't know how that's defined, but it's possible. 😉

Began on 2mg. Only after roughly 2 months, once I was up to 4mg, did I notice a sunburn-like feeling on my skin, somewhat worse sleep, and a raised rhr — yet appetite suppression still hadn't kicked in. I ended up adding tirz to deal with the food noise.

I began on 1mg of Reta as well. There was never any need for me to raise the dose, since I found that my typical hunger pangs had mostly disappeared within 24 hours.
