Hello. Faceplate here, from Indy

I'm not actually joining the forum for myself, but for my father. I love him to pieces, but he is not capable of navigating the internet. He's 5'9", 260, and he just turned 50 last year. He's been trying to lose weight since his late thirties, but food has got to be one of his favorite things is the world. He will lose 20-30 pounds, then he rebounds. Several times. Over and over. There was a point where he was just eating lean cuisines. He's tried weight loss drugs before the likes of wegovy came about. They seemed to be some kind of stimulant.

The reason I'm here is because I believe he's going to be making a turn for the worse. In the winter, two years in a row, he'd gotten into accidents. First he broke his back in a car accident, and was trapped in a bed for (miraculously) only six months, and his weight went up to 330. Then next year he slipped coming out of a hotel on some ice, and his foot did a 180, and that took about 10 months to fully recover from.

Since then my Dad has left his previous work, and he drives a dump truck 60 hours a week, 12 hours a day. He's been using wegovy .5 for a few months at a time, but it's not his and I don't see much progress being made. So, I'm joining to find him a better option, and want to do some research into retatrutide. Not a big fan of intros, but I hope that's enough.

I,m 49 and was 277 pounds. I started Tirzepatide 9 weeks ago and i have lost 27 pounds. I wasn't sure about the Reta since i have high blood pressure and a high resting heart rate. I feel great with what i am doing. Welcome.

Really sorry to hear about your dad's struggles. Glad he has you to look out for him and I hope you find the info you're looking for.

It's not his? Sorry, I don't understand?

.5 is a small dose and may merely be too small for your dad's goals. Have you ever tried to titrate up? Some people here think you should race up the doses as fast as you can to get maximum efforts; others go slowly to avoid bad side effects. Either way, it might be helpful for him. I'm glad he has you. Welcome!

I'm 58. Started at 253 and currently 168. I was 203 when I graduated high school 46 years ago. I feel great and I am healthier than I have been in many, many years. Good luck with your dad.

Sounds like he needs a better plan and some consistency. I think you can help him find that here.

So you were 12 when you graduated from HS? ...I'm not so good at math.

Turns out math isn't my strong suit. 41 years back.

For him, I think Reta could make a huge difference. That small wegovy dose didn't really accomplish much. After a few months on Reta, you'll notice a significant shift.

Welcome, my friend! It's really kind of you to want to help your father!! I think some peps could be of assistance to him. There's plenty of reading material in the threads here — take a look around, and feel free to ask if anything comes up. 🙂

It's really lovely when a person takes this on for their relatives. Glad to have you here!
