So far these have only happened in the mornings for me, which does take the edge off my sweet cravings. I'm trying to make it a coffee replacement, and that part is still a fight... coffee is a big deal to me. Curious whether anyone has tastier or better recipes to add šŸ˜

  • Banana
  • HEB's Berry Medley Blend (strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry)
  • Granola
  • Chia Seeds
  • Milk
  • Ice (if fruits aren't already frozen)

Mine tend to land as my post-work meal, or as the main meal on a lighter calorie day. They carry a lot of good fats, and the cacao nibs plus the solidified creamed coconut give them a bite I enjoy.

almond milk, 8oz

Frozen fruit, usually berries, 1-1.5 c.

Hemp hearts, 1 Tbs.

creamed coconut, 2 tsp (which I pre-make into little ā€œice cubesā€ for fast measuring and texture)

cacao nibs, 1 tsp

liquid stevia, a dash

chocolate protein powder, one serving

dried ghost pepper, a dash

Water, enough to reach the top of the solid contents in the blender

Freezing the coconut that way is genius

Mine usually get made at night. What ends up in them shifts with whatever the fridge holds, but it generally lands on one of two things

Generic fruit smoothie:

soy milk, 8-12oz (fruit dependent)

chia seeds, 15grams

pb fit, 30 grams

fruit, 1-2 handfuls (frozen or fresh both work)

protein powder, 2 scoops

condensed milk, 1 serving

ice, if the fruit isn't already frozen

or

Vietnamese avocado smoothie, modified

soy milk, 4oz

chia seeds, 15 grams

1 avocado

protein powder, 1 scoop

condensed milk, 1 serving

ice, 1-2 handfuls

Macro-wise the first one clearly wins, but avocado smoothies are my weakness even with the calorie load.

Avocado or condensed milk in a smoothie never crossed my mind, but that sounds SO tasty! It's also a great outlet for avocados, which I love — except when the Costco bulk bag ripens all at once…there's a limit to how much guacamole and avocado toast a person can get through šŸ˜‚

Yep, avocado smoothies are a huge deal in Vietnamese culture, so those Costco bags empty fast in our house! There's a Vietnamese strawberry version too — same idea, strawberries swapped in for the avocado, and it's delicious as well.

first time I've seen avocado in a form that isn't guacamole...

It actually works quite well-

Popular Indonesian Avocado Desserts

  • Jus Alpukat (Avocado Shake with Chocolate): Blend a ripe avocado with milk, sugar and ice and you get a thick, velvety drink. Before it goes in, the glass gets a heavy drizzle of sweet chocolate syrup or condensed milk. In some regions — local cafes especially — a shot of espresso or Milo powder is added too
