In the video he addresses that, he says the clinical trial studies shows it to be true, So?

The video is unavailable on the forum (at least for me) but here is the title in case anyone wants it; the link under the video in CNC’s post also works.

There is lots of hiking in Arizona and its always been one of my passions....in the 90's when I was younger and more fit, and more brave, I would train for a few months and then go do the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim...42 miles with 12,000+ft of elevation gain. I would do it in under 11 hrs all in daylight...

So, I did a lot of that, but never did backpack hiking, so at 59 years old, I thought I better do it now, or at some point my body, or my doctor is going to tell me I can't do it...so off I went...2 1/2 months worth... 👍

WoW!!!! That is so cool, and so inspiring! I haven’t ever done more than a day hike in the Appalachians (I am a glamping gal - give me a shared flush bathroom and a flat platform for my tent, please) but I admire the f*ck out of your grit!! WTG!!!!

Did your doctor tell you to be satisfied with Squaw Peak and botanical garden? ;-)

(Yeah, I'm a great admirer of Dr. Milton Erickson)

Squaw Peak is where I trained for the Canyon, lol....It would take me a few months to work up to it, but I would do Monday x2, Tuesday x3, Wednesday x2, Thursday x3, off Friday, then Saturday x6 and Sunday x6...so pretty much 22 times a week...2.2 miles each trip up and down, 1,200' elevation gain each trip...

That’s what the study published here shown: https://investor.lilly.com/news-rel...-agonist-retatrutide-demonstrated-significant

Note: These studies are written for people who deal with cents. Maybe that’s why there are so many decimal digits, while that makes the numbers harder to read.

The key figure to focus on is the most significant one: the first = all the results are in the 10% range over the same time period.

We see a 25% increase in effectiveness in weight loss between 4 mg and 9 mg. When it comes to reaching weight goals, that’s the difference between 9 months and 12 months to achieve the same result.

Personally, I wasn’t in such a hurry: I’d been carrying that backpack for 20 years.

I'm taking 10 mg of Reta and 10 mg of Tirz. Including the six-week titration period to these doses, I’ve been taking it for 15 weeks.

My results, so far:

  • I forgot where I put 15% of my previous weight (BMI from 32 to <27).
  • My latest lab tests show an HbA1c of 7.5%, whereas it was 10.5% four months earlier.
  • The scale shows my visceral fat percentage at 9%.
  • My circumference at the navel has gone from 104 cm to around 93-94 cm.

I’m exhausted, and I’m having flare-ups of eczema (My doctor gave me some baby lotion, which brings relief, but I'm worried he's preparing me to start wearing diapers soon...).

Two days after taking Reta, my feet feel frozen even though it’s 27°C (80°F) in the room.

But it’s worth it.

Reta's glucagon doesn't start working until 4 mg dose. So under that it's basically tirz.

I have said this before, but this is just not how any drug works. The response of the receptors to any agonist is a stretched out s shaped curve, and from what is known of the weight loss effects of retatrutide it is obvious that it works really very well even at 1mg, causing 9% weight loss over a year, about 18% at 4mg and 29% at 12mg. This weight loss pattern of reta at different doses places the effects at 4mg well into the rising area of that s shaped curve, not at the start of it, and places the effects at 1mg well into the rising area as well.

So there is no evidence that reta has any unique dose where the glucagon agonism starts working, it just does not make any sense in terms of basic pharmacology, and the data on weight loss strongly disagrees with it. The Doctor making the youtube videos , may well have experience and a medical degree but what he is saying is factually incorrect, and inconsistent with the well understood science of these drugs. He also supports using very low doses of GLP drugs, which again is not consistent with the research , where weight loss is clearly proportional to dose. I have no idea why he is supporting medical misinformation, he has no excuse based on lack of qualifications , and I think anyone presenting themselves as an expert should be required to make sure what they say is scientifically correct and if they have unorthodox beliefs they then need to provide extraordinary evidence to support their extraordinary claims.

The reason that this claim bothers me is that really low doses of reta like 1 or 2 mg might actually be one of the best options for people using these drugs who do not need to lose more than 10-15% of their bodyweight. These low doses are going to have significantly lower risks of bad side effects, and most likely lower risks of rare but severe side effects, which is important especially in the context of them being used in a group with generally lower long term health risks from being over weight or obese.
