For me it performs identically.Bushman said:
Are there any advantages or disadvantages when it comes to the web version compared to the mobile app? I'm not sure whether one of them is generally considered better.
I use the two of them, though certain B/S/T areas block screenshots in both the phone app and the TG for Windows app. If I need to grab a screenshot, I switch to my PC's browser, since that one isn't restricted.Bushman said:
any pros/cons to using web version vs mobile app? Not sure if there’s a preferred version.

I realize you're likely asking in earnest, but that cracked me up, thanks!Bruce Campbell said:
One upside of using it on your phone: your testing group can ping you during work hours if you've forgotten to pay, letting you sort it out right away before the organizer gets annoyed!
I don't really get what you're asking. It's not a GB that gets divided into sections — it's the group as a whole that is. Think about WW, which I know you've taken part in. There are separate threads, a few for GBs, a few for testing, and a few for B/S/T as you brought up. A GB is only about that particular buy, along with its posts. I simply head to whichever GB or testing groups interest me. Occasionally you need to scroll back to locate a post, or scroll down to the bottom of the posts. Are you on a phone or a PC?Seasonal1 said:
I've got a question about how I use Telegram.
Every GB is split up into different sections. For instance: BST, Members added/leaving, New GBs, old GBs, ETC. Telegram notifies me that a GB has new messages, but once I open that GB, it turns out the message sits in a section I have zero interest in. Is there any way to change how TG alerts me about new messages so that I only get told when something shows up in a section of the GB that matters to me? Is it possible to configure TG so that certain sections of a GB don't trigger notifications for me when new comments appear?
That's the reason I stick to my laptop. The app got removed from my phone.spanky2026 said:
To be honest, I only use TG because I have to for certain group buys, Uther bot and things like that — but as an app it's a total mess. I genuinely can't stand it. It's needlessly cluttered, not intuitive, and a pain to dig through. Sure, I appreciate that I can look up COAs and independent test results and that kind of thing, but I go in and get right back out. Of all the apps on my phone, it's my least favorite. And yeah, I realize I sound like the old codger I am.
Yeah, it took a moment before I worked it out. Tapping the message itself sends you to the newest message — whatever shows up in that message preview. If your goal is simply to reach the group and browse the various threads and sections, then you have to tap the group's ICON over on the left. Otherwise you'll be dropped straight into the most recent thread.Seasonal1 said:

On top of that, you can mute threads you don't care about by long pressing (or maybe swiping?) on the thread. The "numbers" beside a thread showing how many replies have come in since your last visit can't be hidden, but muting does let you cut off push notifications. Just be careful that the threads you actually want to keep up with aren't the ones getting muted.
Down the line, that's going to be my primary motivation for using it, though I'm not allowed to talk about it in this space at the moment. For now I'm simply exploring the app, hunting for solid communities and material I can learn from. I spend most of my time scrolling through STG, and I've also been taking a look at discordspanky2026 said:

Yea I’m starting to realize that, I’ve joined a few vendor groups there and I get a friend request literally every 2-3 minutes

Honestly, not much. The only thing I've run into is the occasional Chinese super model asking whether I'd like to chat. I've now been on TG for 7 months, and I've saved a ton without any real problems.King Sully said:
Once you move away from vendor groups and join group buy groups, you cut down on a good portion of that. It can still occur, just not as often.
To get that, you have to build friendships on here. The majority of us simply don't share information openly in the general section of this place.OriginLots said:
I'm following this thread purely because I'm a total Telegram "noob". Before all of this, I never touched it — I always had the impression it seemed "scammy" (though honestly, a big part of that was simply not understanding how it works). Even getting an account set up was absolute HELL for me, since apparently someone had already used my phone number to create an account at some point. That's a story for another time, though. Any hints, pointers or tips for newcomers? I'm not asking for groups to join or anything like that — just general usage advice and ways to make it easier to deal with.
