Creeping into the late 30's, the usual things start appearing - grey hair, thinning hair, a body
that no longer tolerates certain medications.

Age and other stressors produce oxidation, which compromises gene expression, protein synthesis,
metabolic function and enzyme activity.

The thinking I am running with: saturate the body with as much anti-oxidants as possible and you
give it the best available counter to oxidation.

Plenty of foods carry anti-oxidants, but the strategy comes down to this:

  • processed foods are out - they are super high in toxins/oxidants
  • nothing but whole foods, animal protein and carbs included
  • anti-oxidant rich foods form the base of every meal

What a normal day of eating looks like for me:

1) coffee first thing, with cinnamon, clove powder and raw honey

2) a large glass of juice pressed the same day, run through a masticating juicer: carrots,
pineapple, kale, celery, parsley, apples, turmeric, ginger, one teaspoon pepper. Recipes can be
varied of course. Nothing else in this routine carries this much anti-oxidant weight.

3) Bananas for snacks

4) fruit salad later in the afternoon, more anti-oxidants: mango, kiwi, berries, cantaloupe
or papaya, with a lime and honey syrup.

5) Dinner rests on a salad or steamed veg base, alongside an air fried potato/sweet-potato
mix, with whole animal protein like chicken or beef and seasoning.

A sauce of some kind - southwest, chilli, lemon/honey dressing.

6) wholegrain muesli later, not that high sugar crap.

7) sweet tooth gets whole oat bars or carrot cake with greek yoghurt.

8) sugar free gum between meals, for dental health.

Years of absolute junk food did a number on me - skin went terrible, hair got grey'ish and thin etc.

Everything is turned around now, seeing if damage is salvageable or reversible.
