For roughly 5 years, I've gone back and forth with a kick scooter as my main form of exercise. The past 2 months I've been walking on a treadmill since I now live in Texas and won't go outdoors when it's cold — but today it's 52 degrees, which is warm enough for me.
When you're zipping around on a razor scooter lightly, almost every muscle gets involved: arms, shoulders, legs, core, butt, all of it. During periods when I scoot a lot, I notice everything visibly firming up. It also does great things for my balance and confidence, it's ridiculously fun, and it gives me the same "look how pretty everything is" experience as walking, only quicker. On top of that, I'm less of a target for guys who'd love to sexually harass me on the street, because I'm moving too fast for them to bother me — and a middle-aged woman on one is apparently startling enough that men on the street keep more distance.
Fitness-wise, it truly meets me where I'm at, and it works whether I'm in good shape or bad; the only things that change are how much distance I can cover before tiring out and how fast I can go. I can get to all sorts of pretty spots I'm not supposed to be in, look at pretty things, and I do.
They fold up, weigh very little, and are extremely convenient. I've had several models from various companies, and you CAN drop a lot of money on a fancy one, but the razor lux is my pick. It runs about 100 bucks on Amazon, and I get a new one every couple of years, which is nice because "going scooting with randompersonrandom" is something my friends know is always available, and they take me up on it sometimes. I do wear a helmet, and elbow and knee pads are recommended (I skip those myself, I'll risk a scrape and have picked them up now and then.)

I'm about to head to the park on mine, but I figured I'd mention here that it's a thing. The weight limit is 220 pounds, though I've known people over that and nothing awful happened, so your results may vary.
