Could a vendor send parcels via Canada Post even when their warehouse sits outside Canada? I'm looking to place an order, but the other supplier I use—the one with a Canadian warehouse—has been out of stock for some time. Canada Post is a must for me since my packages go to my post office, and they accept deliveries only through Canada Post.

Are you referring to a PO Box?

It's somewhat unpredictable. Typically, if a postal service is used rather than a courier, the "last mile" delivery will most likely be handled by Canada Post.

For instance, if a package was shipped from China through China Post, upon arrival in Canada it would be managed by Canada Post and ought to be deliverable to a PO Box.

The same applies to USPS.

There are many variables, though! Have you contacted your regular suppliers to find out when they'll be restocking their Canadian sites?

That's a solid question. I live out in the country, and P.O. Boxes are what we use. There's no delivery to homes here.

That said, other companies do bring packages right to our door. Figuring out which address to put down is tricky when you have no idea who the carrier will be. Stuff I've ordered from china has shown up via CP, Dragonfly, FedEx and others. 🤷🏻‍♀️. The only way I find out is once it goes through customs.

Nearly every vendor sends it out, and once it reaches the country where you live, the local mail service takes over.

Even though packages came from sellers located in Turkey, China, India, or Eastern Europe, every single one has shown up as USPS for me (I'm in the US).

A carrier you don't recognize might handle the beginning, but your local postal courier will finish the job.

Everyone I've spoken with in Canada has reported the same thing.

They certainly can — a Canada Post tracking turned up for me today — though whether the vendors know who handles the last mile, I couldn't say. Messaging a few of them to ask is always an option?

Yeah, thanks—I reached out and they confirmed that passing it along to Canada Post is something they can do as soon as the opportunity comes up.
